S4R starter

Just noticed on my 2004 S4R that if I press the start button and release it, the starter motor carries on cranking until the engine starts?? Bike starts and runs fine and switches off normally. Is this normal?

I thought mine was faulty and replaced the starter solenoid before the penny dropped

Yea my 05 749s did the same, it was a bit weird as I never knew it was a thing. My 03 749 doesn't have the same feature.

That's also a thing, on me day my 748 just kept on cranking over after I hit the starter button. Didn't start just kept cranking...

Is this just a Ducati thing? Had many bikes over the years and never noticed. I may have to try it on my other bikes!

You would think Ducati would give instructions about such a thing. Perhaps call it a Handbook and maybe put it on page 38.
