Riders plan for mass ULEZ protest

Since I am just a lowly Merkin, I have no dog in this fight but would like to point out a few things. How will paying £12+ going to fix the air quality? We had a drought in Southern California a few years ago so the goverment restricted water use. You were fined daily if you used more than the daily alotment of water. Southern Cali is full of millionares who continued to water their lawns and fill their pools and the poor folks were forced to take 2 min showers. I se the same thing happening here, those who can afford the daily rate will drive their polluting autos and the rest will suffer with the cost. Net gain will be minimal. We have a saying that if there is a simple fine for doing something, its not illegal, its just at a cost(much like in the earlier post about the Jewish saying).

I always say, if the govermemt is instituting some special plan like this they are all probly invested in public transport or some other service the new laws are forcing everyone to comply with, always follow the money to the cause. As always, the new policy will negatively effect those that can least afford it and buying a new car or bike is most likely beyond what many honest hard working people can afford. This brings me back to what will the £12 fine do to alleviate the problem, my guess is nothing it will just generate lots of money thru fines for the politicians to squander. I really hope you all get the motorcycle exemption they spoke about in the articles. As they say, if you want to see whats next in America look at whats happening in England
