Who fancies a ride out on Sunday 25th to St. Mary's Loch?

I'm leaving Darlington at 10am, but we could arrange strategic meeting points if that suits peeps.

Suggested route: A1/A69, old military road B6318 from Heddon-on-Wall. Then the B6320 to Wark and Bellingham. Kielder, Hawick, A7 to Selkirk, A708 to St Mary's Loch (stop at the cafe), Moffat, back past Lockerbie, through Longtown, Brampton, Alston/Hartside Cafe (stop)...home.

It's a decent ride of about 300 miles on fab roads. No hooning - I'll be two-up on an ER6 (!).

what time you planning on being at Glen Cafe Nigel? I'm meant to be at a mountain bike event at Innerleithen and SML is pretty close :)

I'm still a possible, will let you know by Thursday :)
When asked MrsV didnt say no (she didnt say yes either) :lol2:

that's the classic response! means -

if I can find something else to do you have to come with me -

if I can't and you go and I don't say yes then you're selfish - but she'll expect recompense later

if you don't go she'll decide, just when it's too late, that you're miserable and ought to have gone, but never mind we can still enjoy the day together anyway.

damned if you do, damned if you don't. it will be even worse if it's the wrong time.......aaaaaggggghhhhhh!
mmmmm...........:D :D :D :D :D

If you're in the @@@@ then you may as well do what you want to do. No point getting a bollocking from the boss and missing out on a blast.

that's the spirit - you're gonna get the bollocking anyway up, so make sure you have the fun bit too.

Sorry, guys. I'd love to meet you on my local blasting route but Sunday's the day for the Maggie's charity run up in Angus.

Have a great run (though be on best behaviour on the Selkirk-St Mary's road as HM Polis always seem to lurking there ;)

I might join you at Chollerford for a trip up the valley & through to Hawick

Drop me your mobile so we can get in contact. I think probably the best place to me me is at the roundabout adjoining the A68 and the military road - in the pub car park...if you know it.

OK, should have been more specific there. Not wanting to hijack your thread (too much :) ) On the back of that recent and ongoing discussion about "should racers want to win" on DSC, by some fruit loop, I just visited your website and saw the link to "Northern Monkeys" - never heard of that one before. Anyway, enjoy tomorrow's ride, I can't make it, but it's all the stuff I know and do frequently. Keep an eye on the calendar and maybe join us when we next get up there. Are you coming up for the Masher in August?

I was being deliberately obtuse :)

It's a term for a loose collective of us northern biking types. There was a core of us at one time who were members of hartside.com

I'll look up the Masher - it very depends upon my race schedule and what I am doing, but I'm going to try to get out more often this year. Last year's mileage was pathetic due to racing.

Righto chaps...update.

I am meeting TonyV at 10:15 at Bowburn services on the A1/A177.
kdblamire at Heddon on the Wall at about 11:00-11:15.
The dancingdog on the roundabout adjoining the A68/old military road at about 11:15-11:30.

I'll be two-up on a black Triumph Sprint RS.

:)

Should be a good day. The g/f wants to go on the Ducati, but can't understand why I won't ditch the hi-levels to put pillion pegs on. ;)

What's the weather like around the A68? I might come over and meet up with you guys if it's not too bad. Lovely and sunny up here in Dumfries (not far from St Marys'). Although quite windy.

Of course. Best place is the petrol station on the right coming into Hawick. Doubt we will be there by that time though. Best guess is closer to 1pm. Will pm my number to you.

As usual - cheers for the good ride & good craic,

Got home at 3.00 & Mrs D was surprised to see me, said she wasn't expecting me home till 5.00.

ya just cant win :D

yeah, a good day out we managed to meet up at the Glen and then went on to Innerleithen for the National DH event and our riders managed to have the whole podium in the big boys race so we didn't get home till 7 ish

Good to meet you all :)

Got home at about 7pm after a stop in Middleton to warm up at Cafe 1618. It was cold coming over the top of Alston Moor.

... and was that you I met heading south on the A68 south of Jedburgh? 2:PM ish...

Yeah probably, I didnt spot you. We just had a steady run back on the 696, quick stop in Belsay and got back about 4:15. Good day out well for me anyway:D
