Rideout Sunday 16th September

OK, who's up for it? My idea is to have the biggest turnout of any event so far this year. September looks pretty empty on the calendar, as does October. Doesn't need to be a huge ride, more of a clan gathering to chew the fat and chill. Location has to be as central as possible for everybody. Two immediate venues spring to mind - Hartside, Devil's Bridge or possibly Carter Bar. The latter a sort of tribute to the cross border family that we belong to. Just a thought. If anyone on here does catering then somewhere else might do........Answers, observations please.

Dont ask me - I get lost if I go north of Kielder or south of Barnyard castle.

Carter might be a change from Hartside - tearoom at Byrness & petrol to boot- garage & cafe at Chollerford. Snack bar at Bellingham. All within 10/20 mins of CBar.

Jedbo & Hawick to the north

downside is - I'll not be doing many miles to get there :)

Pete,

I'd like to come down for your run but that's Gold Cup racing day at Scarborough (Oliver's Mount) , which I have pencilled in on the calendar and was hoping a few folks might also be interested. However, even if I can't make the run it would be good to meet up with some of you chaps for a shandy or three on Saturday evening perhaps ?

Just a suggestion. Keep it the same weekend, base it in Scarborough or thereabouts, DUN Shandyfest of Yorkshire on Saturday night, on Sunday race-goers can go to Oliver's Mount and road runners can do a rideout, then all meet up again in Scarborough for a brew and natter before all heading home ?. With the racing and your rideout that's two good reasons for people to get along to Yorkshire that weekend.

How does that sound ?

That would be cool. Anyone else? I used to live in Scarborough and still have contacts there so could get the SP on some good places to meet. It's all changed a bit since I was last there - back in the Victorian age. :D

I guess the base wouldn't need to be exactly in Scarborough but somewhere within easy reach of it ( +- 50 miles ?) and where there's accommodation to be had for us travellers. I just suggested Scarborough as I don't know the area, so that decision would be best left to local experts like Pete who know where to find Yorkshire's finest roads and beer emporiums..

I'd be up for it although I want to get a weekend away camping and walking in the Lake District in September with my pan lids as I bought a new eight man tent just before WDW but because of that and my family holiday it's still unwrapped. Been to Benidorm - Never again !!!!!!!! ('Sticky Vicky...uuuuuugh !, Elvis, Beetles, Tina Turna - all shi*e as was the beer). I'm planning to do part of the Arctic Circle next June on bikes with a few mates through Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia - That's more like it. Northen Lights, Polar Bears and Arctic foxes are more my scene.

PS. Did I mention the weather. 85 deg. + for two blo*dy weeks. Give me 60 deg. all the time and I'm happy. I hate heat and can't wait for a crisp sunny winter morning (so long as the roads are salted).

is that a yes or a no then?

I may make a guest appearance (so bring a camera), if I can make a decision (I once could but now I'm not too sure?) and weather dependant too...

I'm in

Count me in. I havent got the kids that weekend and the missus is at a show on sunday.

Any ideas for stopping over in Scarborough. I don't mind camping but would prefer B&B.

I heven't been out with any of you guys yet so I am looking forward to it.

Scarborough Rideout

Sorry Pete, we've got a 125 learner legal rideout organised for that day.
Go on say it, I've finally found a rideout to match my skills!!:o
In my defence, we're encouraging the young uns, and showing them the Ducatis, they're normally intimidated by them!
Have a good day!!:)

it's gathering momentum, I reckon I captured another three tonight! details later. who wants to stay in and watch TV anyway?

Sounds like progress. Do you have an outline plan, Pete ?. I'd better get some accommodation booked for the Saturday night. Anybody got any recommendations ?

It's going to be tricky if we're watching the racing to meet anywhere other than within the circuit. We have a ducatisti on DuN who has a cafe on the seafront - I could call him and let him know how many and when if we decide to go there. Well? Breakfast at Tiffany's? Tea at the Savoy? He has free parking for bikes.

Shame - did you ask them for any recommendations? I'll try some more contacts. Apparently the north side of town - North Marine Road, Northstead Road, Scalby and Scalby Mills are the places to try - the "wrong" side of town for the circuit but hence maybe quieter (in terms of bookings). I will also ask my mate to look out for "vacancies" signs this week.
