Ride Out - Saturday 22nd Sept - Hartside ?

phone call received at 0925 - they are just about to leave BUT......Sticky's Mille needs a quick fix.......so they are running about 20 minutes late(ish). Still plan on getting there, possibly about 1200 now. I'll keep you updated.

Well, guess who's not renewing his membership with the AA. 50 minutes for the man to arrive and decide it needs recovering. Well done...I told them that to start with. It's policy apparantly! Another hour and a half for recovery to arrive..."OH, I can't take that, it has farings and I can't tie it down on the recovery vehicle DESIGNED FOR CARS". "So give me a lift home and I'll sort it myself." Got home at 2.45pm. Big thanks to Rockjock for getting it home and to the farmwer for keeping an eye on it for me. By the way Felix and Bronco, 3 tractors, 3 land rovers came and went while I was there. It was busier in the field than on the A1. I think they would have found my rucksac.

Anyway..the problem? No bloody idea BUT the fuel pump doesn't work now. There is no power to the pump relay, which is controlled by the ECU. Relays all fine. The fuel tank was empty but I have no idea why since I haven't ridden far enough to empty it since it was last filled, and the fuel light didn't come on although the bulb works? So it could be one or more of the following
a) ECU
b) pump
c) fuel level sensor
d) dodgy immobiliser which is isolating the pump plus whatever else it buggers about with.
So where do I go now?????

Thanks Felix/Bronco for your patience and help. Thank your brother again for me. Hope you had a good day. I'll be back...god knows when. Will keep you posted.
Pete

AA service does sound a bit Crap to say the least.... Shame we couldnt get it going. still dont think its ur ecu as it ran, all be it briefly, on both.... hope you fathom it out and are back on the road soon......

We had a great ride out... After abandoning Pete (sorry!), we headed straight to Hartside via Barnard Castle, B6277 past High Force, Middleton in Teesdale etc..... lovely road. but a bit bumpy !. Said a quick hello to Bev & Dancingdog at Hartside (hope you had a good ride onwards..) After a much needed grub stop, headed up to the A69, then took the A68 down to Darlington. Quick pit stop at croft to see if there was anything worth watching - nope, some vauxhall whatever any would have had to pay to get in.... so being extremely tight, gave it a miss :)
Headed down through Northallerton and on to a much needed drink in Helperby......
Really enjoyed the ride, did around 260miles and now ache like f*ck!. Still, no pain.... no gain !!

:)

Take it we're all home safe & sound then, well those of us who left home that is.

Nice to see that apart from TonyV it's the guys who were fashionably late, well later than me this time.

Good to catch up with Dancingdog & Badgerbait again, well actually they caught us up after we left without them and when we were stuck in slow traffic they appeared in my mirrors - Japenese bike riders fault apparently.

Nice to say hi to Felix & Bronco Jr eventually!

Hope you enjoyed the footie Tony, you missed a great ride back via Ullswater, Kirkstone pass, Windermere, Keswick & back to Hartside.

Commiserations those who didn't make it.

Let's hope we all get out again before winter.

Just to add my bit:)

Teriffic day out, good to meet and say hi to some new names, the roads were good, wether fine, what more could we wish for?

Home safe and aching - am I getting too old for this? probably :)

Best road of the day for me was the run from Alston up to Hexam, havent done that stretch before and I was fab:thumbs:

Pete, let me know how you get on with the mille - I'm sure it will turn out to be simple (read:cheap) but its finding it.... If I can be of help just shout, I'll pm you my number...

Bev, hope i didjnt seam rude, didnt realise you were you - if you know what I mean! - have a proper chat next time.

I passed by between about 4 and 5 in the evening, heading back towards Alston. Lots of red bikes on their way up to Hartside, any of yous? (I was going a bit fast to notice much more ....!)
