Raid the Lakes Ride

see calendar and sign up.

Three years now since the aforementioned event saw one of our longest running sagas unfold with the unfortunate demise of Steve748 entangled with a chelsea tractor.

Rideout to cover the most of the Raid the Lakes route of that day, approx two hours from Devil's Bridge northwards. Head to Kendal then through Windermere and over Kirkstone Pass to Glenridding. Then Pooley Bridge to Eamont Ridge then a blast down Shap (past the accident site) into Kendal then back to Devil's for a brew and natter before heading home.

Meet Devil's - 1000 for 1100 depart. Steady pace.

Who's game?

Nice idea Pete, Calendar here - 7 June

Sorry I won't be able to make it, Ft Bill World Cup DH so I'll be sat going round in circles in the gondola that day

Great roads.

Is there a visit to the land that time forgot, Ravensglass?

I'm a definately possibly, maybe for this one.

Ray.

Sounds like fun and theres a possibility I might even have a bike on the road by then, it will be an Italian V-twin but maybe not one starting with a 'D'

Just a thought, has anyone advised any of the Ducati dealers of the ride-outs?

Maybe them or some of their customers might like to join in.

OK so you try to organise a ride and other @@@@ers decide they can do it better, change the route, ask for other destinations etc????

WTF is it about this forum?

And one wonders why the @@@@ one bothers.

Go and organise your own rides, don't try and take over mine. FFS.

I can only assume if Pete has organised this , then he will have a route planned out.

It may be a bit rude to post other routes on his thread........dont ya think ?

:chill:

I was only asking to see if we were calling in at Ravenglass.

Ray.

A simple read of the itinerary would obviate the need to ask, Ravenglass is also about 40 miles away from the nearest part of the PLANNED ride and would extend the ride by about two hours at the very least if we took the best options to get there and back.

Can you make the ride on a Monday?

Only I'm helping out at the local cat and dog home on Sundays.

But if it is after the 20th then I can do Saturday afternoon only and not the Monday.

And can you include a stop at Fekdifino so I can pick you up there?

i took the liberty of putting a route together. You can change it if you want.

It does make you aware however (when you get hassle like this with what should be a fairly painless procedure) that certain very popular characters from even the recent past have deserted these pages - they can't all be wrong. Or right? Can they?

It just seems to be ever more burdensome trying to enjoy the site these days - I'm ready to ditch this ride at the moment. Especially as my last one was so ill supported as well. Perhaps it's just us English who can't get it together - the Scots seem to do it.

Not to worry RJ just come and enjoy yourself at the very well organised Masher. Unfortunately not every one has a Borderduc and his committee.:D:thumbs:

Sadly Pete,

I'm photographing (hopefully) Ospreys that weekend in Scotland so won't be around. Bike is back on the road so will try and get on a few more rideouts now.

My rides are well organised, and don't need a committee. What is needed however is people who can and want to have a ride out and not be content just sitting next to, polishing up, gawping at, and bragging about, their expensive toys.

Watch that chip, it might just fall off your shoulder and do you some harm.:laugh:
