Raid the Lakes 2006

Had a message from Andy claiming DUK have given him a Sport Classic for RTL, I'm sure that'll keep you smiling Giz?
 
No idea Ian, I think he's just got the bike for a week etc, but basically said he wanted for those dates so he could do RTL on it and bring it along

That would be great Martin, i now have official Ducati press status so get all the PR packs and had looked at trying to register upnorth but it has to be as a club. I'll send them a mail as I'm sure it would qualify without being an official club, it would be good if DUK could push it as well.

Should be able to make it across for one day on a more appropriate bike this year. I'll know nearer the time which day.

Whizzed through the postings on the thread but couldn't see a date set.
Is it 10th-11th June? That is at the end of TT week too.

4th-6th Aug is the Cumbrian Rumble aka the Gt Northern Rally based in Cartmel. It's a good do, but don't expect the old drag round a field on a tyre by a CX500 lark. Martyn Edwards is organising that and there's a ride out as usual. There's a camp site laid on etc, so it might be worth asking him what the set up is for that, and whether a meet up of the two events is not totally out the question. IF the date isn't set yet.

18th July is the DOCGB Track day but that's a week day.

Round our way the schools break up 14th July (Wigan). Wigan wake weeks used to be last week June and was the same as Glasgow. 30th June is a Friday this year.
So, England schools pack up anytime between 14th and 21st July.

The 2004 north rally was at Brotherswater just up the road from Ullswater and we had a marquee set up; the band kicked off and sap me if we didn't almost immediately get a bloody complaint about the noise from the campers.
Opened the band tent up to the campers and charged 2 quid for the evening entertainment. Next to no takers and the one's that did come in wanted to know why they weren't included in the raffle!! Ended up dishing a couple of freebies out to keep them quiet. :eek:

Date is fixed as 10/11 June, we had to work around all those dates plus DD and Oulton Trackday and came to conclusion it had to fit us as organisers first or it wasn't going to happpen :)

venue is the Inn on the Lake hotel, room is booked, menu TBC this week, its a nice hotel with a patio and garden going down to the lake shore, no band a civilised?? evening of banter and a chance to catch up with friends was the preferred night time option plus bands/marquees all need a club to fund them which we're not :) camping is about 800 metres away, the hotel also has a couple of bars for after the meal or we can adjourn to the patio :) only downside is that the room only holds 30 people so it'll be whoever books first. I'm hoping to have a form done before i go to away at the beginning of March.

All lakes campsites are like that with noise Ains, most people go to the remote ones for peace and quiet and to enjoy the mountains, its not the place for bands and loud bikes :) hence we are in a hotel :D. Park Foot at Pooley Bridge is the opposite and is a popular car/bike club meet point.

i think im gonna ride down and back up in the same day, is there gonna be a place for the scottish boys to meet @ and ride down together ??

Apologies copied and pasted from DSC, got a lot to do tonite and I couldn't be bothered to rewrite it :D

I've just got back from the hotel, have to say the hotel manager has been great, menu is looking good, a 5 course meal with a Cumbrian theme and a few options as well, it'll be in the smaller dining room (the big one is booked for a wedding) it opens out onto the terrace with the garden then Ullswater lake shore. its one of the best locations in the Lakes.

He's organized one of the bars to serve breakie, bacon sarnies etc on Saturday and Sunday morning and bar food will be available Friday night. he's also offered us the "wedding" hotel package so it can be Bed and breakfast for Friday night, dinner bed and breakfast Saturday and the dinner bit gets offset against the meal we have booked. It ain't cheap but it'll make a Ducati riding weekend to remember, waking up to Ullswater on one side Helvellyn on the other then out riding your bike.

I'll try and get the booking form for the meal sorted this week and update the RTL page on upnorth

I hope so cos i've paid the deposit on it now :D Only thing we didn't finalize was a vegetarian option but we'll wait and see how many would want that, they said it was no problem anyway. There's a new terrace going on the side of the ramblers bar, west facing, should be perfect for friday evening if the weather is good.
