Just visiting
Right, I'm after opinions. I have my own but I'm interested to hear what all you 9xx/748 owners use on the Air-filter front.
I've been playing motorbikes a bit this afternoon. While playing with my new toy, I thought I'd whip the tank off and have a nose at what filter/filters it's using. the filter that was in there looks much like your standard ITG/JHP oval foam jobbie, I can't make out the name. The worrying thing was, it had amost been ingested into the horizontal intake. It is ripped and most of the insides are gone!!
Looks like it's been very badly fitted after a service as it wasn't on the horizontal intake properly. Was this you Stewart or the previous Ducati dealer (the name of which will remain unspoken)? :)

...I need a new one!!!!! :D

I've used ITG on the st2 and I have a K&N on the Imola. What do some of you guys & gals out there use.

Just take it back to the previous owner, I'm sure he's regretting selling it!

No seriously mate. I was horrified to see the filter.

Any sensible opinions here guys please

Ed you beat me to it mate, i was about to ask the same question, difference being,my bike has got the Original Ducati air filters (fitted 2 weeks ago,it was the same with the old ones too) but the amount of crap they let through is unbelivable,(i could build a sandcastle with it) so just like Ed what do you guys use/ Recommend  thanks for your help:thumbs:

No filters for me just some gauze over the trumpets

I did think of that, but I'd rather fit a foam filter of sorts. I think ITG or the JHP one (which looks remarkably simular) which is probably one of these with their name on it.

Andy, if you get something before me, let me know what you get. I also looked at the Pipercross ones.

The foam filters which fit over the intakes use airbox volume and will affect the performance, perhaps not by a lot but there will be some reduction. They do however, protect the engine better especially if an airbox screw comes loose. You wouldn't one of those down the inlet at full welly

My 748 came with a JHP filter, cans & chip. Seems to go like a good 'un. Certainly read lots about the filter taking up airbox volume but I doubt it'd be a factor for a road bike.
It does catch an awful lot if crap however.

Cleaning the overspray & dead bugs out of the fairing mouths did make a noticeable improvement mind you.

ShedBob

JHP/Pipercross (Pipercross developed it with John's help) make a filter and mount which fits to the openings of the airbox where the airtubes enter, this design was specifically for models using shower injectors above the belmouths as the inbox filter couldn't fit over them.

Had them on my 998 and worked a treat, but the airbox seal (to the tank) is pretty bad also so for me I'd go for the ITG/JHP filter
