Carl Fogarty is the token motorcycling guest on Q of S tonight BBC1 at 1900
I wonder if one of the questions will be 'How did you manage to compete in a race series based on motorcycles available for sale to joe public without selling any bikes?

...that's a bit catty for one of the nations motorcycling legends - who gives a Fcuk, he had the b*llocks to go ahead and do it!! ;)

Your right about him being a legend (in his own lunchtime) after reading his book and some comments by the ones closest to him during his racing career, I don't think he will regarded as popular!
The answer to the question is of course is that the bikes were not competitive enough to win races ;)

As a nation we like to "knock" successful sportsman and Fogarty was successful. Because motorcycling did and still does not get the same coverage as F1 he had a fairly easy ride from the media. His unpopularity has been largely of his own making. He was never a Hailwood or a Sheene but rather than accept that he tried to do his talking off the track rather than on it and pi$$ed off other very talented riders at the same time. He reminds me of Nigel Mansell in the way he whinges about why this went wrong or so and so did this etc. He was one of the top flight of riders this country produced just too bad he couldn't accept his own achievements for what they were.

Oh blast, missed it.

One of our forum, the very famous Hodgy, was on last week but didn't have much to say for himself.

I saw that too Jan and infact none of the guests talk about what they are doing now like they used to do. I think this is probably so that it does not 'date' the programme and thus make it less saleable to other channels in a couple of years time.
