Hi all, lookin for some advice aboot the lovelly 848's like do they have any specific "issues" i should look into (like stalling!!!) tank range, good mods(termis obviouslly;))
think i remember some had radiator probs but dont know what yr.
Hope to find out more about one tomorrow when i give blair a call back:D

Colz mate are you investing??? Speak to Gspot, Davie155 and Mary el Presidente as they are all long term 848 people.....Spoke to Blair today but as I wasn't buying a new bike the conversation was brief...... however once I get moved house an 848 streetfighter is looking tempting!!!

Yip all these new bike threads got me thinking(never a good thing!) just came into some cash, so can afford to just get one without having to wait for the 749 to sell:D. so can wait for the right price for it(anything over 4g)

Had my 848 for 2 and a half years, love it and never had any issues, though factory suspension settings are a bit iffy but once you dial it in for yourself it really is an amazing bike, tank range probably about 100 ish miles, my fuel light comes on about 70 miles but it only takes about 11-12 litres when the light comes on so still 3 or 4 litres in there.
not really done any mods though, has ventura luggage for a bit of touring, and a carbon hugger but thats all.
really tempted by the 0% deal on the 848 evo corse SE right now though.

'Stalling' ? that's a Wierd question

Not really. I had an issue when mine was new. It stalled the first time I had it out which I put down to not being used to it. However, the problem continued and it went back to DG. A simlpe tweak sorted that out and I have never had an issue since.

Probably the most rider friendly bike I have ever had. I've ridden it to Italy, round the North of Scotland, used it on the Breast Way round run and had it on track. It never ceases to please.

Now if only they made men like 848s!!!!!!!

+1..
.suffered lots of stalling at roundabouts and lights the first month I had my 749 until DG sorted it....but not soon enough to avoid a small topple when it stalled on a hill off camber at a petrol station....

Aye Colz ah hear ye, i've never owned a 749, it's not my cup a tea, with respect of course,,
If it's not operator error then why would the bike stall, is it because they are no good, well at least at lights "n" roundabouts,,

speak to G.spot about 848s' :)

Far as i know its a prob with the tps and something to do with the compression on the front cylinder that makes them just randomlly stall at idle. as i said makes you look a comlpete @@@@ at lights unless you remember to blip now and again. been caught oot a few times(even worse when your wife pulls away like a missile:o)

My stalling was caused by a fuel problem when the bike was at low revs. Easily fixed.

Mine too easy sort only other issue was a stripped bolt on oil cooler where the lower v fairing bolts to it. New cooler under warranty no probs since. Like others my suspension was rock hard out of the box I got Stuart Miller to sort it and what a difference. My 848 has been laid up most of year as I've been having so much fun on the MTS, just reaquainting myself with it (mutley is down souf) ready for Masher and had forgotten what a hoot it is to ride.

Bruce: like the idea of 848 Streetfighter but think the riding pos'n on the new 848 Hypermotard might suit my aging bones a bit better
