Proposed Moto GP visit

I was wondering who would be interested in a little weekend at the Moto GP. I really wanted to go last year but Ive no mates ;) Im thinking of hiring a motorhome (dry, warm) and driving down for the 3 days, maybe 2. The cost to hire would be around £700 for a week but they do weekend hires as well. Roughly halfing it then gives a figure of £350. Split 4 or 5 ways makes it more reasonable. I could pick people up on the way down the M6.This is just an idea at the moment. Any tips or tricks to those who have been before are very welcome.

We've been to Donington for three years on the trot, and used our motorhome each time.

So, here goes.

Take loadsa water! The inbuilt water tanks aren't enough - or never have been for us ;)
Take loadsa food - when you get parked up you don't wanna be nipping into town for munchies, besides which - you may very well get boxed in.
Take more beer - then take some more again, and then a little extra just in case.
Use the toilet as little as possible! Use the on-site facilities as much as you can.
Get every ticket long before you get there, including your camping passes.
Remember - plenty cash (though there were cash machines this year).
Make sure you get levelling ramps when you hire - it's not a caravan, you can't wind the legs down to level it up to stop you falling out of yer bed
Take a bicycle - makes getting around the circuit easy, and if you need to nip into town you're covered.
If anyone is arriving by bike - take a chain, you are NOT allowed your bike inside the camping area. The bike parking is secure though, as it's right next to the guards office.

Oh there's tons more - but I'll leave it at that for now, hope you get sorted mate!

You'll make loadsa friends in the camp, and get plenty invites for a drink here and there - we have!

I'd save the money and avoid patronising a dump like Doodooington. For much the same money (or less even) you could do a package trip to one of the continental MotoGP rounds like Catalunya or Brno and enjoy a state of the art circuit. Maybe we can get enough guys interested through DUN to get a group together ...?. I did Brno (package trip) last year and it was excellent. Catalunya the year before by cheap airline.

Well that sounds a better alternative DB. I'd be up for that. Bit of sun as well. Anyone else??
 
Done many euro events by bike and by sleazyjet etc, bike is fun as it's an adventure, but a lot of the journey is about getting there, not so much getting nice twisties, just fast roads to get from A-B quickly. But cheap flight, car hire, hotel etc is also as enjoyable, and saves you quite a few days and obvious tyres etc on the bike.

It has to be a Spanish round inmy opinion simply because they go mental, Jerez would be nice....
 
keep this going, we may well get quite a few interested, I now I would be up for it!. Always fancied WSB at Imola or Valencia for GP just for the crowds and atmosphere.....:cool: :cool: :cool:

You could fly down on a day return,which is what I did a couple of years ago.
...but then my mate lives in castle donington village so I can stay free and spend my money on beer and tat.

Good point actually, I'm sure it could happen, in fact I'll start looking at dates now
 
Attached zip is of 2006 dates for WSB, MotoGP, BSB, New Era and DD (obviously)

So there's a start
