Hi
Am trying to help plan an Italian car and bike day in late August. Plan at present is to meet somewhere Central ish possibly Lanark Area and be open to all makes and years. Just flying this up just now to stimulate interest and if does appeal, please email me directly psantoni@btinternet.com My main plan is for next year as want to copy the Bristol/ Horsham model and have a show in Glasgow City centre. Trying to persude the city fathers to support this and close roads just now! If this idea appeals and you want to help please let me know!

If you are a member of any Italian car/bike club please copy this on Paul

Drew did this come from the Scottish Alfa club? I know they are trying to arrange something for late August with plans for a bigger event next year.

Sound like an event we could be involved in. I think Scott may know something about it?

Think the original idea may have sprung from there yes, but Paul Santoni ( link enclosed in my original post ) seems to be the person who is now trying to get it up and running. I was asked to post by another friend who had been on Italian car run with them

Latest info I have on this proposed event, please see below, Scott / Mary, Might be of interest for SDC ?? conatc details are at the end of the message:-

Italian Car and Bike Joint Meeting

Hopetoun House 16th August 2009

In response to suggestions form various clubs proposing a joint informal meet we have gone ahead and planned one!

We have arranged with one of Scotland’s greatest country homes, Hopetoun House near the forth road bridge, http://www.hopetounhouse.com to use their grounds on Sunday 16th August for the meet. Check it out, it’s a stunning location.

It is not going to be a ‘public event’ like Craigton or AutoItalia. That would require a different level of intense organization over a longer time. If the meet works then it is hoped to plan a full scale event for Italian cars and bikes next year.

The arrangements are simple:

1. Hopetoun will charge £5 entry to their grounds for every car and bike, even if multiple occupants/riders. The organisers and clubs make nothing out of this.
2. The number of cars/bikes are limited to 200.
3. We have to be in the grounds in front of the house by 10.30am at the latest. Suggested leaving time is about 3pm
4. Clubs will be allocated space according to marque. We will use the horseshoe and drive in front of the house, which ordinarily are ‘off limits’.
5. You need to contact the organizer posting this, in advance, to notify if you are going to display as we have to limit the numbers. The display cars will get and display a permit.
6. The restaurant will go from table service to self service for the day. Capacity is 100. The food is good.
7. The house will try and lay on interests for children in the grounds.
8. An engraved cup and prize is being donated by 360 Complete Vehicle Detailing for the nicest or most original car/bike.
9. The family still live in the house and it’s open to the public so we have to be well behaved and safe!
10. It’s absolutely only Italian cars and bikes. No exceptions.

Sounds like it might be worth doing a SDC stand ?. We've vertainly got enough interesting bikes in the club. Wonder if they'll have a "gentlemen - start your engines" session like the did at Beveridge Park ?

Thought it might be of interest re-an SDC stand . Will leave it in your capable hands

added to calendar, an SDC stand or area sounds like a great idea only dilemma I'll have is whether to bring the Smart, the Laverda or Alfa :D

I had a Sunday School picnic there when I was 5!!

@@@@ing hell, cheers Drew, just brought back a load of old memories.

Think the tickets were only about 20p then! :lol2:

This is something the SDC should attend. If anyone is interested please put your name on the calendar.

A stand will be arranged.

Me to Davie

Could be a crackin' event though

:flash:I have contacted the organiser and it looks like we will be taking part. If you're interested then please put your name on the calendar. :flash:

It would be good to see as many different marques as possible in attendance.

We had a fantastic range of bikes on the Galloway run so lets show these car owners just how interesting and diverse we are, and take some bikes along as well.;):D

Which bike will you bring Big K?????

Decisions, decisions, decisions.:D:D:D

ps For extra brownie points make it my favourite OR bring them both on a trailer.;)

For those planning on going the entrance isn't where the signposts would indicate. Last time I was there you have to go into South Queensferry and come back along the river side on a little narrow road. August is looking very busy eh Mary????;);) Particularly on that side of the country.:flash::flash:

Hopetoun House is very very near the sea. All that salt in the air will not be good news for any Alfas and Lancias that show up. :lol2:

Okay folks these are the details. If you want to attend you must contact Stephen Gaddis individually at:
barchetta-scotland@hotmail.co.uk

They will not take a club entry as they are limited to 200 vehicles and need to keep a note of exact numbers. They also have to provide proof of intent to display for each entrant when they pay at the gate (£5)

Not sure what details he needs, probably make and marque?

This is a trial run for what could be a much bigger event in years to come so lets try and have a good show of Ducatis.:D

Other Italian bikes are also welcome.

This is a great setting for this event and if there,s enough entries should be a good day. Was last there about 20 years ago and remember the house well. Would be up for taking the bike to the event also....give it a polish the day before then through it in the van ......easy !!. Room for another bike in the van too !!!!.

Just recieved an e-mail from the organiser.
That is the 848 booked in for the event.
After you send the initial e-mail you will recieve a "verification to display form" in a week or so.
Then you cough up £5 at the gate.
He suggests we meet prior to arriving so we could arrive on mass.
This would aid them setting the SDC/ducati area up.
Sounds like a cunning plan.

:flash:I see there are 4 names already down to go.:flash:

Lets be having you & make this a great Ducati turn-out.:D:D

Excellent.:D Just drop Stephen an email to get on the list.
