Chairman Burnham, Dear Leader of the ruling regime in the people's republic of Britistan, and his defence secretary Stress Weeting, are urging the citizenry to stockpile essential foods and household items in case world war 3 breaks out and the internet stops working. Apparently, not having an internet in your house will cause you to freeze and starve to death. Most alarming.

I've tried to do my bit. Last night I stockpiled a pack of Guinness but this morning it was all gone. I suspect I may have some very thirsty mice.

What is everyone else doing to prepare for armageddon?

Collecting names and addresses.
 
I have bought a plugin Hybrid so I can get to work on the electric should fuel become a rare commodity. We already have solar on the roof and I heat with a pellet stove so we will remain warm, fed and mobile should the world collapse.

Do you have the system that feeds the house in the event of a power cut
Apparently you need an expensive gizmo that isolates your house from the grid
Presumably so power isn’t fed onto the grid in fault conditions
If not you’ll be in the dark with every one else

Why stockpile if you can just do some looting and rob other people, when war breaks out a bit of anarchy will provide me with all essentials 😎😇👍

I have the standard system, but I am an electrician. I am currently sourcing a power inverter to bypass all the electric gizmos they put in and be able to connect directly to my circuit breaker box. Once the main switch is shut off the power will only flow inside my home and I have some deep cycle batteries to hold the excess for after dark. Not perfect but will be enough to keep the pellet stove running, cell phones charged, car topped off and fridge/freezer cold with enough left over to run the hot water heater should the supply of natural gas and public water remain functional
