Popeye (The Sailor man)Down A686 hartside
First things first he's home in the loving arms of Olive.

Well were do we start.
Injuries: Gravel Rash ,bit tender around the right shoulder, buggered kit (new Alpinestars jacket) and maybe a bit of dinted pride. (told me I had to post he was near to death)

Damage: Rideable, but sad looking ST4 35lt paniers make effective but expensive crash bungs.

Where: A686 Hartside on the run down to Melmeby

When: Tonight about 7.15pm

Circumstances: Out for an after work jaunt on the ST4's panniers and all, matching pair of poofs that we are.
Stopped at the cafe but decided to run down the other side for a coffee.
I set off at a pace that the young pup just couldn't match must have been in excess of 30mph maybe even as fast as 40 at some bits.

Well it appears that the hyper speed I was proceeding at has scarred the @@@@ out of a fluffy little bunny (or a Hare the size of a dog according to Mr P)
Which several seconds after I passed then makes the decision to saunter across the road in a state of amazement and shock at just having seen the fastest thing on two wheels on Hartside just race past.
It is in such a state of awe it doesn't hear the approach of a second ST4 in FULL PELT (25 ish)

Being fond of little fluffy things Mr P makes a gallent effort to avoid the poor little mite and in doing so scarifices himself for the sake of saving said bunnies life.
Bunny survives, Mr P and ST4 bite the dust.
Our gallent little sailor then manges to bring home his ship unaided.
Can we all provide a collective hug please for Mr P's show of humanity.
I would have just ran the little bugger over.

Sorry to hear that Popeye you just got the ST4 didn't you?? it rained at about 5 last night and it takes a while to dry on the bottom section into Melmerby, easy to get caught out if you have to brake or change direction suddenly. Hope the bunny appreciates your efforts to save its life :)

Ta for that Ian.

Geoff, hope there's not too much damage to yourself or the bike, get back on asap!

you should have took the bunny out. never mind so long as your in one piece;)
Minds me of a few years back when I had a V50 as a spare bike. One night I hit a rabbit. There was a whack and I didn't think much of it. When I got home and stopped the bike there was this hellish smell. Then I found the source - the rabbit's head was wedged between the LH exhaust pipe the frame!

if you get the speed right in a landrover you can keep them bouncing between the tyre and the wheel well. its a hell of a bang each time but youd be surprised how far you can keep it going for ;)
