police on hizzy run

ive heard from a friend who is in the know, that police on the hizzy run shall be adopting a zero tolerance this year.this comes after a couple of years of them trying the softly softly approach and getting the @@@@ ripped out of them for it .they will be patrolling hawick and the surrounding areas in force.
i suppose it had to happen cause if people insist on wheeling up and down hawick high street and driving like loonies elsewhere the locals quite rightly will complain and this is what theyve done.
if i ge any more details before the run ill let you know :(

Baffles in then.

Thanks for the info Gord. Might fit the baffles to the cans then but as there unmarked i might say sod it;) . Keep us informed my man:thumbs:

thanks Gordon, the loonies do spoil it for the rest of us but we've got to accept it and not let it spoil our rides otherwise they'll eventually clamp down on everything :( I've got no problem with sensible policing, we've got a harder line aproach here after the last few weeks yet i have race cans on both bikes and never have a problem, full size plate, semi tinted visor, throttle off in villages and coast through, don't spook the horsey crowd and most polis seem to recognise that you ain't a hooligan. i'd guess the majority of us are like that so can't foresee a major problem in Hawick ,says he running outside to get buffing wheel to remove the for race use only stamps :)

if you need full size plates Impact do a nice upnorth logo one :D

hmmm, i had better have a rethink about this then. Although Bob may be more roadworthy than some bikes he is not entirely legal at the moment and would struggle to convince some police :(

Bikey polis are generally ok. If they stop you it's generally cos they're bored and want a chat.

Yeh when you take off your helmet, I guess they will just want to chat...I have not found this to be the case :p

PS. You are a girl right? I remember reading in one of your posts that you said you were...just in case you were a big hairy bloke, I didn't want you gettin the wrong idea...not that there's anything wrong with big hairy blokes, if you like that sort of thing :weed:

As Michael says, it's the loonies the polis are after, and I'm sure we don't have any DUN members being let out of the asylum for a blast, so whilst we don't need to ride like a bunch of jessies it should be a case of safe, controlled riding, sticking to speed limits in towns, no tailgating Mrs Snodgrass who's out for a wee dander in the Volvo and just being observant, especially if your throttle hand is getting frisky coming on to one of the big straights where the speed traps often lie await eg Teviothead and Fountainhall on the A7. Let's face it, the best sensations in biking come from getting a nice controlled flowing motion, surfing that Ducati torque through the bends.

I'm sure none of us are 100% law-abiding, and yes, it's annoying to have to stop at police roadblocks to have your number plate and road tax checked just because we're bikers but we shouldn't let it put us off, otherwise we'd never go out, and just think what you'd miss !

See you on the Hizzy Run, all on our best behaviour !

What you trying to say Eonan? You want me to be a big hairy bloke or something?

If they not wanting to chat you must have been real BAD!

Hey I'm open to new experiences heh heh. Actually I haven't been stopped yet, I'm just on this thread purely for the banter ;)

from what i could gather i dont think theyre doing wholesale stops or checks for noisy cans etc,but i believe if they stop you for being an idiot theyll do as much to you as they can type thing.if your riding sensibly it shouldnt be a problem at all.dont think its out to get us all just the arseholes

as a by the way they have got an unmarked burgundy pan here a silver pan unmarked and two bmw 3 series that i know about one silver one white both unmarked, have heard of but never seen a laguna estate as well but i cant remember the colour
