Fun fact, during WW2 around 3000 French troops were involved in D-Day, with only 209 of that number actually landing in France by sea or air. Meanwhile the Vichy regime had a force of 30,000 to 35,000 men in the paramilitary Milice, which incorporated the Franc Garde of around 10,000 men who were responsible for rounding up Jews and killing resistance fighters.
