OLED TV's

This is just my experience and I'm hoping others with one might chime in.

I only thought of this as my 1 year LG warranty ran out a few days ago. I was fortunate to extend it to five years but what suprised me was just how many 4 figure tv's still only come with a 1 year manufacturer warranty.

Bought a 55 inch LG OLED, fantastic picture, great sound but there has been issues with the main one being burn in, some call it ghosting. Basically it can show an image of a previous programe/station/game if that previous viewing is left on for a long time.

Just an example, if I'm doing other stuff but like to leave a news programe on in the background, then when I return to normal tv, the image of thier logo as a shadow can appear and stay there. They do have a thing on the settings under OLED care called OLED Panel Care which is a bit like removing the history and cache on a computer but in this case it scrubs the oleds to start from fresh. However, there are murmerings that this shortens the tv's life the more you do it

I've got a tv man coming Tuesday to test the strength and direction of the signal before I contact LG.

Based on a years use of an OLED, I have to say when this needs replacing then it won't be with another OLED but probably a good quality LED, NANOCELL or QLED

I’ve had a LG OLED for just over three years now with no burn in at all. I have the panel clean left running and have had no issues at all. It does get watched quite a bit and during covid got hammered with binge watching, gaming and anything worth watching.
id take another in a heart beat for the picture quality alone

I've got a Sony. Never missed a beat in about 6 years. (y)

I have a 65" LG OLED, used to be Samsung all the way, but after 3 screen failures in a row from about 6 months to 2 years I switched, no complaints so far, about 18 months in.

Had a LG OLED for about 6 years
Never had a single issue - when you pause something (not that I do very often) a screen saver thing comes up quite quickly so the picture never ghosts

Never to my knowledge used panel care

LG I believe are the only oled panel manufacturers they just sell them to other manufacturers to re brand

I've got a Samsung 55inch, fucking great for gaming!! (y)
I'm going to pick up the S95B tomorrow (today) for my Series X that's coming in next week. 2-3 years later I can finally get one. Had to order it from MS as there still appears to be a shortage around here. Impossible to get one in Belgium.

My LG LED TV is still going strong - about 15 years old now I think  it takes a minute or two to start but that the only issue.

Was thinking of changing it to a lower energy one but was surprised to find there are non available - they all seem to be G rated 🤷‍♂️

I fancied upgrading to that new roll up screen, then realised you could get a Dessie and a 1098r instead.

Hardly going strong then. :D

My new heat pump tumble dryer is A++ rated. Why don't you buy one of them instead?

⬆️ There for , ⬇️ there for 🕺

On my remote the pause button logo is virtually worn away
