Oberon bar end mirrors

The most important mods for the bike IMO would be a hugger pref Carbon and a SCOTTOILER. Had one on every bike I have owned since 1989 and they increase chain life, something of importance with 130bhp. My chain on the 748 still had a lot of life left in it according to Ducati-John Cellier and it had done 14,000 miles last time I saw it!

Thanks for the advice Steve748, mods so far are carbon hugger, carbon tail tidy, R&G frame protectors, red clutch plate, stainless steel springs and caps and a DPs carbon clutch cover. Forgot about the chain to be honest. Only six days left before collection. :D

I’ve been looking into the Oberon mirrors and a lot of people across the ponds comments are the mirror quality is poor.
They seem to prefer the Rizoma class retro http://www.rizoma.com/english/en_mirrors.html for anyone interested in bar end mirrors.

Yes al they look Quality gear, better than the others! Scottoiler well important, If you want a hand fitting I can help you out there. you can fit it on the rear brake reservoir fitment. a doddle after you have done a couple. Also it needs the Termis and there is a link pipe done by spareshack that eliminates the tumour:comp2:

Hi Al, I bought a pair and after a bit of a struggle managed to get them on. I found that the collet they supply wouldn't grip when I tightened the screws up, so I superglued the collet to the brass piece and that worked a treat! It's going to be a while til I can 'road test' them but I get the feeling I will have to take a couple of allen keys out with me and find a quiet flat road to ajust them! Anyway they look the dogs danglies!

Require some help, anyone know the internal diameter of the bar end on an S4Rs? Need the size to enable me to order bar end mirrors.
I would measure it myself but don’t collect the bike until the 1st of Sept.

I think I’ve become a modifying addict.
I inherited some Rizoma Reverse Retro mirrors with my Monster. Beautifully made but execution flawed. They look like spare bat ears if you fit them with the mirrors sticking outwards (to get good visibility) and if you fit them sticking inwards (as per the photo on their website) they just look stupid. The internal diameter was too large for the bar end weight and there were not enough plastic packers to make it a tight fit. So I had to machine my own aluminium spacer! I also found the left one interfered with the clutch lever ball end, (causing the clutch lever to stick when pulled fully in!) meaning you had to adjust the lever further inboard - not easy with a high rise bar. I just use the right hand one now, that seems the best compromise. But ultimately I may discard them altogether.

After experimentation I found the best way to set up the Oberon mirrors is to enlist the help of another. I went down the route of taking Allen keys out but found I was getting more and more frustrated as the smallest movement makes a huge difference.
In my humble opinion the easiest method is to sit on the bike positioned offset in your drive way or road to simulate were you would normally position the bike on the road a reasonable distance in front of a car. Then get your assistant to move the mirror to the desired position and tighten the Allen bolts. When I did this with my twin we set the left mirror to see the car and the right positioned to see down the right hand side of the car which allows me to see what’s in the outside lane.
Hope this helps.

I'll come back to this post in about 6 months time! I have noticed that I could tighten them just enough to allow some tiny ajustment without them moving too much and then when in the 'right' position tightening them up.
