After 3 years back on a bike, starting when I was 30 on an RVF400 ( Held licence since 17) and 2 happy years on the road on the 749 I virtually quit road riding and have done naff all on the road this year, Steve's crash sickened me, it was the 4th time in 3 years that I have had to try and manage the post accident scene and if you never have to do it, that is good, if you do, you just get on with it and shout at people, all is cool until you are on your own later, it does affect you.

Fast forward, done loads of trackdays this year and loved every minute, so the next step is racing .............

Good news, I just bought a race bike, icckle 600ss, 53bhp rearsets hi level pipe etc and I will be campaigning it in the DSC Desmo Due series, including one round over at Assen.

At this point the furthest North we come will be Oulton Park, obviously I will keep you all informed !

I anyone would like to offer any help at any round, either financial or spaneers etc let me know.

We are running a control tyre, so costs are low, in respect of what I can offer, well not alot, a sticker here and there and hopefully a respectable result !

Wish me luck guys !

Nice one Ian, will look forward to coming to watch and giving moral support. (Trust me you wouldnt want me on your spanners)

Quite happy to wield a spanner Ian , Also anything you want machining/making give me a shout and I will see what I can sort out ;)

Good on yer mate, it's something that I envy you with, I wish I'd done it back in the late '80s when I started!

Shame the series doesn't come up to Knockers, it's the nearest one to me.

the best of luck to you Ian

ps. the control tyres are Diablos aren't they?

Good luck, Ian! Have a blast out there next season (you lucky boy, you).

(Ed, Diablos are currently the control tyre for DD. The racers seem to love them, too.)

...thought they were. Was thinking of getting a pair or the Imola road wheels.

And here she is, owned at the moment by Grib, I have promised her I will retain a couple of the flowers although the bike will eventually be red, yes int it great, in true Dseered styly it has WHITE wheels !

Good looking bike, look forward to seeing it in action again next season.

Most Northern will be Oulton Park ( I think ) although I have had a couple of mates say that they are going to ride out to Assen and another couple said they will fly out and hire a car to watch the 'International' round.

A tank of fuel will be much appreciated ! Which bit of fairing do you want, you can have first dibs when it comes back from the gravel !

Oulton or Cadders I'm guessing unless you mean Assen which is technically more Northern than either of those two UK circuits :D

Might have to move house if you're coming to Oulton though Davie :p

great news Ian, really pleased you have gone for it :)

It's a great little bike you have there and is the best way to get into the racing.

May be able to do hospitality at the oulton round...

Cheers Henners for snapping !

Nice one, Ian! Definitely a good way to get into racing, but are you ready for all the @@@@e politics that apparently part of it?

I actually like the Aprila RS250 fairing. It's an amazingly good fit. Best of luck for next year.

From what I can gather, it will only take one thing for the politics to be all but over, alot of reading between alot of lines brought me to this conclusion, most of the grid just wanna race, others just want transparancy, once that is sorted all will be good.

Desmo Due is a really nice paddock to be around, vast majority camped up together, all hands on deck when something goes wrong, Saturday night there was about 80-90 people having the Hog Roast organised by one of the racers. If you compare that to the rest of the paddock who are dotted about over the whole place it really is good fun !

I asked such alot of questions, I didn't feel I was being a trouble to any-one, in fact nothing was to much trouble, even gave some advice

It really is worth a visit Felix !
