Northern Ireland road races cancelled

Aberdare Park Road Races is still on for this year, i did it about 4 or 5 years ago. While i was waiting to get in at the entrance there is a gate so you have to wait for the racing to end, then you cross the track. I was leaning on the gate i turned round and Steve Plater was next to me. It was his first time there and he was doing some commentary on the live racing, as it was my first time i had no information as to where the commentary box is. It was funny watching him walking around asking people where the fuck the box is. :) Hicky was there and John McGuinness. Highly recommend.(y)

Sadly all racing in the republic is also off 🙁, MCI (Motorcycling Ireland - the sports ‘s governing body) can’t get insurance at a reasonable cost. The premium’s have risen by 230% and an excess of 300K is being applied to each and every claim.

The big question here at present is how this will affect the TT as it was the same insurance co who underwrote Irish racing underwrites the TT so they too will be facing the same premium hikes and excess requirements 😕.

MCUI (the governing body for NI) are trying to raise the funds to meet the increase in premium (170K to 400K) but it’s the £300,000 excess that’s the real deal killer.
