Apparently John's contract said that he should have been signed with Petronas in Moto2 for 2021 but Petronas went back on their promise and signed Xavi Vierge. They probably didn't expect Jake Dixon to perform so well.

That would be a great team! Xavi hasn't been performing that well this year so if he doesn't improve, we may see John and Jake in 2022. They already owe John that Moto2 ride.
