Need Another Duke!

Seeing the Old skool topic got me thinking again. Been looking on n off for another Duke recently. I'm in need of a two seater to take my new girlie out on. No intention of selling the Smart, which she understands!
I've been looking at 1000DS/900ss Supersport's the Terblanche styled ones, or the original 900ss.
Not got much in the cash dept, so do I push the boat out and get a 1000DS with a deposit and finance, or do I keep looking on Ebay for a older 900ss and take a gamble on getting a half decent bike?
I do prefer the older 900ss style wise. What are the two bikes like to ride?
Any help / comments / abuse appreciated!
Cheers
Rich

I'd been considering a 900SS Rich just so we could go to SDC do's 2 up, came to conclusion an ST2 or 4 might be more use simply for the comfort factor. If I'm solo Smart is OK so only time I'd use it is with Linzi and the ST just seemed to make more sense?

the new 1198R comes in a bip... just a thought :D:D

I've used the Hyper a bit 2 up - plenty room on that seat...

Shame

Just sold my ST2 with colour matching panniers, great bike does wot it says ie. good handling and plenty of tourqe....ideal two up bike... should pick one up for less than £2k with :D

Used to have a ST2, slightly modifed, I fancied a change to something a bit more sportier. The ST2/4 is a great bike though.
Think I might keep an eye on ebay, see whats out there and try to pick carefully.

Never been a fan of 'old skool' bikes I'm afraid, too much time and money plus I don't really find them that pleasing to the eye either :lol2: Plus I do like the idea of a warranty to fall back on if needed ;)

So I'll be looking VERY closely at the Strada Aperta / Cayenne or whatever its called today as my mile muncher for when my wrists need a rest from the 1098.

I've even been toying with the idea of a Hyper , at the right price

Just bought this 93ss for £1150 off a 60 year old guy locally.
Wasn't really looking for another Ducati but had to buy it when I saw it.
3 owners, 11k miles FSH.
The handling is a bit basic but it's great fun.

This is the sort of thing I'm looking for, and about the right price!
The handling doesn't have to be razor sharp either, it will be mostly two up use and not pushed too hard.
I also like the idea of a newer, warranty bike, but don't quite have the cash to get me there.
The Smart will always come first, a second bike will always be, er, second.

Having raced the 600ss in Desmo Due, I found it handles as well as the 749 and fast enough for any road, if I get back on the road it will be a 600ss that I look for first !
