Need a Pruning Saw - corded or battery

Need a small powered saw to prune our one and only tree (a feckin' sycamore of all things) which requires annual pruning (otherwise it will hit the telephone wires above it.

Branches up to 4" thick but will be using the saw up a ladder.

What d'ya recommend 👍 👍 👍

So just how saw are your Prunes Ron?

By answering that we might be able to tell you as to whether you need a mains or battery device to tackle such an infection... X

Sycamore is a pain in the arse as a garden tree. The more you prune it the more stems and branches it produces, the more out of shape it gets, and the seeds get everywhere. I cut a 40 footer down in my parents garden about six years ago and I'm still finding newly germinated seedlings all over the place.

A fruit tree is a nice idea. A self-fertile spur bearing apple or pear would be my choice (spur bearers produce fruit on old wood so they can be pruned or trained into almost any shape without affecting the harvest).

For ornamentals, Catalpa (Indian bean tree) takes some beating.
 
Funny old thing my 25 year old son, just before the pandemic, decided to pack in his job as a chef and go back to college one days a week and got himself a 2 year arbourculture apprenticeship, he’s really enjoying plus plenty of free wood for the log burner !

my favourite fruit tree is probably my Vranja quince but I do love a crab apple !

Got two quince trees any one wants fruit next time let me know - to be honest we do nothing with it ( except shoot it with a 12 bore ) Chizel & shedboy enjoyed the shampoo 😂

Why would Chizel need shampoo, surely just a wax would do?
