Surely there is at least a 12 month warranty?
If the COB/LED isn't properly heat sunk the heat builds up with a few seconds.
We used to use Metal circuit boards and big heatsinks. Our 300W lamps could only be used underwater.
Out of water they would overheat in less than 30 seconds.

Unfortunately there is an awful lot of cheap/unreliable LED lamps out there.

Do you need 30-50 or 100W of LED light.....?
Courtesy or security lamps should be circa 4-10W, mounting height 8' coverage 30' illumination circle...
You'll find the exact same size lamp housing with a 50W COB..... think about the heat management.
Unfortunately its the top trumps thing... why spend £30 on a 5W lamp when I can get a 50W one on the same webpage for £40.

I've just purchased some cheap Solar security/courtesy lamps, so far so good. High brightness (but not the 600W claimed... more like 3W), Big solar panels, size of a standard envelope. Little Fresnel bulb lens to detect people....
Currently got three on test..... I'll let you know how I get on.

I bought a solar pump for the very small wildlife pond (think puddle)
it ain’t brilliant
but have just installed a solar battery charging thing to keep the bike topped up
so far seems to be going ok

Battery Charging with No Mains available

I want to recommend this product at Amazon. Although I haven't actually purchased one, it contains all the parts necessary to charge a battery. I'd always advise off bike charging, with the battery in a vented, fire proof box. Electrical things can go wrong and when they do this typically...

We have one 5W pump... should have gone with a 10W one.
It pulses when it is cloudy.
 
I have a solar light for the dog's shed, small panel and it's been reliable for about 3 years so far. I've got a solar battery charger but haven't got round to installing it as I tend to give the batteries a blast of mains from an extension every 3 - 4 weeks without problem. The solar charger is Oxford Products so I'm not convinced how good it is but will get round to fitting it sometime

My set up is similar
1amp solar panel, dual output controller
it seems to be working so far holding an old battery I have it connected to at 13.4v
which I thought was a bit high but it’s the same voltage as the battery tender

13.86Vdc was the sweet spot of Yuasa alarm batteries.... that seems like a lifetime ago.
Intelligent charger on my sprinter sometimes goes to 14.4V..... I've a multimeter attached ..
Anything higher than 15V is likely to cause harm to a Lead Acid 12V battery.
Dirty DC is best.... DC, but with an ac component.. as it helps break the gas bubble layer during charging, allow the acid to come back into contact with the plate.
There is some really good science about this and some sales bull thrown in.

Yesterday I received my variable rate from Edf.
Tariff Name : Welcome Standard
£0.04391 per kWh
30.78p / day
All inc VAT

Zog went under on Monday, new supplier by Friday.... that is how it is supposed to work.

EDF say I already have an account and password.
I don't know what the password is since I've never managed to speak to them on the phone or internet, so I've reset the password link sent..... but no link received...
Change email addresses.... same thing.

I think they only send links during working hours... or the system has crashed.
No chat service, not even a bot.

I disagree.... what shell were going to place me on with no alternative was far inferior to what I achieved swapping to EON!

Andy what did shell offer you?
I understood that E.On Next weren't taking on any new customers, as the price cap means they are selling at a loss.
Just this week I got an open market quote from EDF which was double my transfer rate.

its all above somewhere... I quoted your pricing to a really helpful guy and he matched it......though obviously not as good as it was better than Shell

in the good times I paid £50 per month electric and remained in credit which I grabbed back a couple of times a year,
Shell wanted £108 Per month
EON £70 per month

as a general guide.

Although you may receive your welcome letter, asking you to log on etc.... please don't.
1. You won't have a password and the "reset password" link won't work for another month.
2. They don't want a reading and you can't give it to them.
3. You can't set up a direct debit.
4. You can't go paperless.

Basically the letter should have said....

which bit of ive changed provider don't you believe or understand? I was with green they went tits up, eventually got offered shell, they were shit and tried to pull my pants down, so I went to EON, got a decent bloke who understood exactly what I wanted, and it happened!

Sorry Andy, I wasn't doubting you word or what you have done. To explain more I've been informed that it isn't possible to transfer until you've been assigned and handed over to the supplier of last resort. This takes around a month. After that you can change. If you attempt to do so earlier, you may end up being double charged and/or cause delays in getting any credit balances transferred and/or it just won't happen. The new company will say all is fine, however they won't get the correct hand off from the failed supplier. They may however start to draw money from you.

Sorry for any offence caused and I hope your case proves, what I've been told/read, to be completely wrong.
