MOT Today

The Honest Man

Oh well, after the bleak winter,I thought the weather had picked up,and after four dry days,I booked my ST4S in for its mot. I have been itching to get it back out (and the Duke!),so this morning I woke up jumped out of my bed, pulled back the curtains and saw,,,,,,,,,,,yup,,,,,,,,,you know whats comin dont you!!,,,,,,,,,yes your right, pisn horrible bug infested rain, wind ,black clouds!!!!!! I couldv gret!!
Anyway got suited and booted up fired up the Duke (eventually!) and headed off gingerly to Hugh Adams in Tarbolton. Rain, wind, petrol station. Nearly £20 to fill her up !!! Off to Tarbolton, rain, wind wind rain,up the back road to Galston off the 77,rain,wind and now mud that had been splattered all over the shop by John Deere!!
Got to Hughs place, and he went to work mot ing the bike!! Cup of coffee, then wifey turns up to drop off the new short stubby stainless steel race cans I bought from fleabay. Apparently they set car alarms off:lol2:
Right the bad news is that the rear brake is seized,(never noticed) steering heads need sorting, and the front discs are warped:o
So needless to say it failed. Wind ,rain, home, peed off dreading the bill
I didnt have the balls to ask,I just wandered away with my head down.
And just as I left the garage, the rain stopped and it got brighter,so in closing,I apoligise to all you guys that got wet on their bikes today as it was my fault entirely for booking the old thing in for its mot!!!!!
SORRY!!!!
Paul:o

An MOT fail is always a downer, but I'm sure all will be forgiven once you have that important piece of paper and the stubbies are setting off alarms,

Hopefully the bill won't be too sair.

One of mine is going in tomorrow after been sat idle for 18 months..... everything crossed!!!

Hopefully yours won't be to painful toget sorted.:flash:

Hoping it's not going to be a massive bill for it ...... be worth it when the summer comes though

As a by the by my wee car flew through its MOT today .... phewwww!!!

That's a bugger, and as for the weather, at least it's not just me it happens to when I pre book an MOT, it could have been tropical sunshine and heatwave all week, come the day I go to the MOT, cold, wet, howling miserable weather, right till i'm 5 minutes from home on the return journey, y'know that point where you think, i could just carry on and enjoy now it's brightened, but you're soaked, cold, miserable and just want a cuppa.

To be honest the fail list isn't bad, I take it you don't do your own spannering but if you did they're all relatively easy fixes, the only real expense doing it at home is the cost of new discs.
I always try to encourage people I know to do their own stuff, something I do now, I started years ago with a friend who always brought his car to me to fix and service, eventually i said, you've got tools and time, you could do this, I know he was nervous he'd mess up but after that I used to walk him through the jobs getting him to do them himself with guidance and a helping hand, within a few months he was happly tackling a ful service on his own.

I like the sound of those cans, reminds me of the ZZR250 with it's race system I had, man, that thing sounded like a big bass drum being hammered mercilessly through small villages, there was a young kid in a go faster shopping trolley, (golf or corsa or somesuch) where I worked then, always insisted on parking right next to me and every time I fired up the bike it set his alarm screaming, always made me smile as I rolled out of the car park. :D

Cheers guys,Im preparing for the worst! I cant even put oil in the bugger without making a complete erse of it ,more oil on my drive than the bike!!!! Im hoping to get it back sometime this week,I havnt checked the weather but if it passes the mot and go to pick it up I will post the day and time so you lot can stay indoors and keep dry!!!
;)
