Marco Simoncelli

I watched the funeral via Rai Sport, Italian, on You Tube and wept all the way through. So sad.
 
Watched it streaming on Bikesportnews. Saw Rossi push Simmos bike out but did not see him ride it??
 
Am raising a glass tonight :beer::cheers: to Marco not only to say Ciao but also a thankyou for bringing so much to the action this year.

One of the brightest lights in the MotoGP string lights has been extinguished.

Am sure many others will be joining me.....

been trawling thru images and footage of Marco all week and I think this image stands out the most.. to me anyway

Yes, I also read that somewhere, think it have been on Visordown, Lorenzo also had a go at his own Dad for criticising Marco

All very sad, how do they get their heads right for next race after a tragedy like that.
 
Lots of ideas going about as to how best to honour Marco at next weeks Race- best I've heard so far- Leave pole position open and empty for Marco and 1st rider start from 2nd position on the grid- I think thats a very fitting mark of respect?
also - is it just me or who else thinks its about time to pull as much of the footage of the accident as possible-Ii for one don't want to see it again?

In F1, they did this the race after Senna and Ratzenburger were killed (1st and 2nd place were left empty). I had hoped that the same mark of respect would have been extended to Shoya Tomizawa last year, but alas it was not.

Hopefully it will for Simoncelli.
 
It was nice to see that in F1 today at the Indian GP they had a minute silnce for both Marco and dan well done motorsposrt showing the respect for two champions
 
Going out on a limb here and might be wrong/jumping the gun but the chatter on facebook suggests that the campain to leave pole position free on the grid on sunday was either successful....or the guy that is behind it is just chuffed at hitting the 11,000 supporters mark I don't quite know. Anyone heard anything else?

Must admit I am also very pleased about the minute of noise of all the bikes being started/revved as requested by Simoncelli Snr...couldnt think of a more fitting tibute....

I don't think I've blubbed so much in one day for ages!- a very fitting tribute and hats off to Vale who showed a lot of humility and courage- he must have been gutted to have been taken down in the 1st corner-
I'm sure he wanted to well for his buddy- I read a quote from him on a Facebook tribute page which roughly translated said" Now there will be 2 on the Ducati, but you will not be a burden" OMG - what a heartfelt
thing to say.

I havent seen the tv coverage yet from the racing but thought I would pass on the things I saw.
Lots of people in the grandstands were wearing #58 T Shirts and the official stalls sold out of all thier 'Simoncelli' Merchadice.
All the people in the paddock had #58 badges or arm bands etc and it was obviously everyone was feeling the loss of Marco.
Im not sure what time it was on Sunday but I think it was at 10:10 (just before the 125 race) we lost the live camera feed from the large TV screens and it showed a blank white screen with a drawing of Marcos Helmet and the number 58 on it. We didnt get to see the riders grouping round Marcos bike on the start line or any tv coverage so we didnt really know what was happening.
This remained on the whole time whilst all the 125, Moto 2 and GP bikes rode around the track following Kevin Schwantz.
If your watch the TV coverage, and think the crowd didnt show any emotion its only because we didnt know what was happening.
There we plenty of people there wanting to say goodbye to Super Sic.

Quite the opposite mate, Ive managed to keep it together pretty well over the last few weeks but the one thing that pushed me over the edge were the images of the crowd (that I saw anyway), so never in the slightest thought that the crowd were not emotional.
 
Have to second what Robbie says. The tv coverage had some good shots of the crowd getting into the spirit of things, particularly when the bikes rocked round.

Ive just watched the link above and thank you for posting it.
The footage really brings home the fact that the entire paddock was feeling the loss of Marco.
I wish it had been televised to the audience around the track as we didnt get to see any of that footage.
I was lucky enough to meet Marco after he fell off at Silverstone during Saturday morning practice.
Nice Guy.
