Hi All,

Just thought I'd drop a reminder about a crackin event (weather allowing) for later in the month.

Arranged by the Buell Uk group as a charity event, this is a great day out for anyone with even the slightest interest in our aviation heritage and of course, V-Twins in particular.....

Some words from Chris the organiser:

"Hi Ducati owners....

Details for this years big V-twin festival have now been finalised. We had fantastic support from the Ducati clubs in 2006, 2007, 2008 and hope for the same this year.

UKBEG Emma Radford Buell & European V-twin Festival - Saturday 18th July 2009.

Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre
East Kirkby, near Spilsby
Lincolnshire
PE23 4DE
Web site: www.lincsaviation.co.uk

UK Buell Enthusiasts Group web site: www.ukbeg.com

This will be our sixth event at this location dedicated to the memory of one of our members, Emma Jane Radford, who passed away 22-04-04, aged just 26. We'll also be raising money for the Papworth Hospital Cystic Fibrosis unit which looked after Emma. Last year we had 280+ bikes and raised over £1200.00.

In addition to approx. 150 Buells, there'll be Italian bikes from Aprilia, Cagiva, Ducati, Morini and Moto Guzzi. British bikes will include Brough Superior, Hesketh and Vincent.

Buell UK will support the event and will have a selection of their current Buell range available for escorted test rides around the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds. You must produce a full motorcycle licence if you wish to have a test ride.

The event will include a Lancaster bomber taxi-run display. If you like Rolls Royce V12 Merlin engines at full chat and red-blooded V-twin motorcycles, you'll really appreciate this event!

The provisional timetable is as follows:
10.30 am Start time
12.00 noon to 1.00 pm Photo-call for bikes with the Lancaster
1.30 pm Lancaster bomber taxi-run
4.00 pm Lancaster bomber taxi-run

The admission charge is £6.00 per person. 'Girls on Buells' get in free.

The Aviation Centre has full catering facilities."

Ray from the Yorkshire DSC is arranging a ride in also:

Meet at Squires 9.30am to leave at 10.00am

A great day out and other DSC regions ride in as well.

Let me Know if you plan on meeting up for the ride down.

We usually go via the Humber bridge, costs a bit to get across but the roads that way are a bit better.

Finally route planning is available via here:

Hope to see you there; Regards - Frank

'Girls on Buells' get in free

Update from the Organisers:

A couple of event updates:

Due to the large number of Italian bikes which now attend this event we've introduced a 'Best Italian Bike' award. This is in addition to the usual 'Best Buell' and 'Long Distance' awards.

Also new for 2009 - lady riders and pillions from the DSC will qualify for free admission.
(This wasnt requested by the way, I guess its just that we have always managed to get a few bikes there from the nearby regions)

--------------------------------------------------------------

I've just emailed Ray to ask about meeting up at the Humber bridge if its of anyuse to riders in the North / NE

I'll be on an Italian V-Twin at least but sadly, not a Ducati

Ride safe - Frank

No probs, I've been known to use a Honda from time to time but the Ducati is more reliable:eek: He'll might just be usehered away from the V twin parking though:lol2:

Ray

Franko,

as per e-mail

Guessing a time for the Humber Bridge is a bit tricky, I'd hazard a guess around 11.00am.

How about we say meet on the North bank of the Humber, IIRC there is a bit of layby before the pay booths, some time 10.50am to 11.10am If either side can't get there in that time window then just carry on to the Museum and meet up there amongst the milling throng

Is that OK?

Ray.

Looks like waterproofs and a sidestand puck might be the order of the day :(

At least it seems there is a special Italian V-Twim parking area put aside for us right next to the Buell area + we get our own photo call with the lancaster bomber :)

Fingers Crossed - Frank

The seaweed is predicting dry tommorrow. Metcheck reckons dry in the Louth area until 22.00 hrs, I hope to be home a bit before then:D

Ray.

Well missed the event again!!!!
Just paid the toll on the Humber bridge then the bike breaksdown.
Thanks Ray started off a good day:D, Paul was keen off he went missed us all in the layby.:lol2:

Whilst waiting for the tow truck near the toll booths a very lucky ST2 owner just managed to save his pride and joy from resting sideways after getting off ..... anyone from this site?

Sorry about disappearing Errol , I didn't see Ray in the layby and assumed he had gone straight across the bridge :o Hope it's nothing serious with the bike ?

Paul

What's up with the bike Errol?

I spent the day working in Warrington, but a BT fault @@@@ed the entire day up, so now I gotta go back Monday. So I could have gone today :comp2::comp2::comp2::jerkoff::comp2::comp2::comp2:

I hope you went back to the Toll booth and got yer £1.20 back as you didn't get to cross the Bridge.

Was the ST2 rider with someone on an Aprillia Falco? If so it was Frank's ( da DSC webmaster's) brother

Another day of surprises.

Starting with what looked like some sort of bus loading of hen partyists in Sherburn. Then a breakdown at the Humber Bridge.

Met up with the BHCN mob at the Airfield. Did anyone else see Lancaster Taxi ride winner going crazy, they seemed a bit pleased to have won. Took a different route back to the Bridge.

Back at Squires Screwy's bike wouldn't start but it fired up once it was threatened with the embarassment of leaving on the back of a Breakdown truck.

The seaweed wasn't too far out, only got a bit damp on the way down, sunshine all the way back.

Ray.

Ray, yes he was with the Aprilia:D
Dark grey St2.

Steve, john thinks it may be related to the air sensor, I've had a problem for the past two weeks but I thought I solved it.

Paul, I would have carried on with you to be honest if it wasnt for the bike stopping.

Thank's to Ray for today's run out to the V-Twin Festival. Hope you all enjoyed the route back via Caistor, i had forgotten how bumpy that last section of road was though.
