Leccy Providers

Just wondering.

I just submitted readings and went to make an extra payment. First try was rejected and so I get very arsey and phoned Lloyds bank. I was intending to stay with them for a while, but I don't take kindly to this shite! So I phone Lloyds Bnk in a strope and they said that they never declined anthing. Turns out that Octopus (my electricity supplier) did the declining. So I tried again using a different card and this time they lowered themselves to accepting payment. But they have pissed me off and I seem to be using electricity like mad.

But I am not. The problem is how much it costs. I just checked EDF and they are even more expensive!

This is the damage:

Can anyone point me at anyone cheaper, or is this just the cost of Russian gas?

Now given up. Most providers seem to want to keep this essential piece of information a state secret. Not a game that I feel like playing

That is the lowest rate you'll get anywhere in England.

I wonder what could possibly be using all that electric?:rolleyes::oops::D:LOL::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::whistle::giggle:😇

Is it really?

I am not using that much but I have to admit not really caring about usage. Now I know the damage, I will be a bit more prudent! I kept reading sob-stories on prices of energy and just ignored it all!

And I did get into this constant battle with Octopus, who would not let me reduce my monthly DD. In about September last year, I somehow managed to reduce it right down as I got the account in credit. The plan was to leave the DD and just supplement it each month, making card payments. I haven't been very diligent!

Your all paying Jonny foreigner for your leccy
what do you expect 🤣
I accept what you are saying but it is worse! In my local town (Stroud) there is Ecotricity (very green, man) who are supposed to only generate from wind and solar. Their prices are through the roof, at roughly double what I pay.

But it is very much a learning process. Until the Ukraine war, I never realised that our mate Putin, controlled UK Wind, Tidal, and Solar power.

The truth that our Conservative government will never admit to (or any government) is that the UK power tariff system is garbage. There needs to be a proper system because really Ecotricity should be the cheapest supplier, as wind, solar, and tidal is free to use. But when you have the hippy Dale Vince in charge, it may a s well be Putin.

The playing field is billiard table flat at the moment.
You should be getting a £400 subsidy, shown as £66.. a month.

We are circa £1000 on Gas (50% of property Heating / hot water / Clothes drying / Hob).
Then £750 a month here at the moment on Electric (AC heating to 50% of the house, plus other normal stuff)

Unfortunately Electricity prices are linked to Gas prices.... I really don't understand why this was done.

April is the next big date to watch (next review and the withdrawal of Government support).

Received £200 today into my Octopus Energy account which was handy. This is in addition to the £66/month.
It’s due to me not having mains gas.
I’m doing my bit for Climate Change..

Have I told you I have a Woodburner….

If only there was a thread already on electricity provider issues....... ?

Serious question @PerryL do you ever read what other people write, some even in direct response to your questions?
