Not sure if you've caught up with the multistrada thread but I'm sure that the red key should never be used in the bike.
Least that's what they say for 999's.

Thanks for the info, the red key is now safely stored away to avoid any confusion.

The red key won't do any harm at all - but if you loose it you're snookered for getting further copies made. So it is indeed best safely stored away.
