Just took my 999 for blast

I have been feeling a bit grumpy lately.

I went to see the 1098 at Ducati Glasgow and it's a great looking bike, but more importantly to my mind, it's lighter and more powerful than my 999.

I bought all the December/January issues of the bike mags to keep me busy over xmas and they are all covering the 1098 launch. They all say what a great bike it is and how much better it is than the 999. Only TWO makes a case for the 999 as a future classic (page 12).

How is a guy to feel with all that perceived wisdom slagging off his pride and joy?

Well I just came back from a 2 hour blast and I feel fantastic. So what if 150bhp and 182kgs isn't as good as 160bhp and 171kgs. I didn't notice! it was great to hear the noise of the motor at 10,000 rpm thru the race pipes again. No doubt all the other road users agreed. The roads were just dry enough and the temperature just warm enough for me to shake off the winter blues and realise what a great thing biking is, whatever you're riding.

Now i'm just paranoid about whether i've got all the salt off the bike. I'll probably check again first thing in the morning. Unless the weather is good again, in which case I'm out tomorrow for another blast.

awesome.

Yep I know the feeling, took the 749 into town the other day, the first time i had slung a leg over for 2 months..........a whopping round trip of 8 miles but it felt good just to be out and riding again. :)

I took the XJR refridgerater :D for a wee run the other day and was so good to be on the bike. would take the 996 but its well locked up in the shed, n the XJR is jamned against the door just to be safe :D

thats done it....

....ya buggers!...:D ...I thought it was just me being a pervert!..after reading your post Mike I am on me way to the toy shed to put the bugger back together and have a blast tomorow. No salt here, just wet but I'm an ex m/crosser...:banghead:... and I divunt care if it goes sideways!..I have to agree, I was begining to wonder what the F*** was wrong with me,... barking at everyone!....its withdrawl...isn't it.

And me :( Two of my mates came to the door this afternoon asking me to come out and play...I couldn't because both bikes are lying in pieces

Hmmm...maybe I should buy a third one, just while I'm trying to put the other two back together? Maybe a gizzie? I've always wanted to learn how to off road, and my farmer mate has plenty of empty muddy fields at the moment

Harley

Went out on run with fergie last year, was expecting some guy in chaps and handle bar tache, was plesently surprised when he turned up on the xerox minus the tache and chaps and f**ked off into the distance.see u next year ian, done my first service, and termis fitted, nolimits now!

I couldn't agree more. I've also been drooling over all the mag articles on the 1098 and have been seriousley tempted to upgrade my 749. Went for a blast today around the borders and it just re-affirmed to me what a sorted bike the 749 is so for the moment I'll be keeping it. Hopefully get some Termis fitted soon.

Quite!
I actually changed 4 times before I came to meet you but I'll have the chaps next time!!
Now that the bike is all done we just need to get the telephone numbers bit in place and we are sorted!!

This year lets make sure every possible opportunity is taken advantage of!

See you all soon.
