Mad Dash

Just visiting
Allow me to share this with you. Bike insurance up for renewal so I checked Bennets on line, despite having all the bikes listed (D16RR, 1098R, Hypermottard 1100s) the quote was referred, so I called them. Then had to go through it all again... just to be told they don't insure bikes valued over £15,000. WHY LIST A D16RR AND 1098R ON YOUR WEB SITE DROP DOWN MENUS THEN ?????    Now wait for this, they asked if I would consider a third party policy - GET REAL BENNETS
Called my current insurer, Ducati Insurance, click, click, click, job done in 5 minutes - well done Ducati Insurance. Bennets, don't try and play with the grown ups... stick to your Gixxers, Are Wans, and Kawas.... (removed a sweary word, I swear too much on this forum)

Don't DI use Equity Red Star as well!?

Thats what my customer advisor, ie bloke on a phone, said. I told him that I was expecting 300-400 and he nearly fell off his chair when the quote came through.....where as I nearly shat myself...

I think he didn't do the quote properly.....

Two seperate quotes maybe.....???

Im with Equity Red star thru Bikesure, half the price of DI for me. (TPF&T)

Mad Dash, 1098r and D16rr prolly only worth 15k each tops now mate, credit crunch, depreciation, discounts (;)) etc. :D :D :D

I just changed from Bennetts to Tesco. Multi bike. Less cash. Better cover. Lower X/S.

I hate the current crop of insurers. They suit themselves.

2p.

hehehe, some bastid tried to nick it yet again when I was at Davie's t'other weekend. Still haven't got it......yet.

Was probably Davie trying to get some cash for his Buckie....;)

Didn't he let you use his garage........or was that not included in his all inclusive pricing....

My next move would be to get one of those cameras that record when it detects movement pointing at the bike shed.

personally I would booby trap it or wire a bank of batteries to the locks....

Feckin thievin ba$tards.....

i would have a hard drive full cats wandering around the garden every night :D

If they can't get in a wooden shed, they aint gonna get the 749, lock to ground anchor, steering lock on, out of the shed, across the yard and out thru a locked gate narrower than the bikes mirrors, which don't fold. I can hardly get it out meself with the keys ffs! :D

I actually found Bennets great for a good few years early on but now use Ducati Insurance, and I shop around every year. Tesco came in cheapest this year but DI matched the quote - hence keeping my business for antoher year. Cheapest quote was £88 (Fully comp with more than adequate cover and not a high compulsory either) most expensive £375

I honestly don't know if I have got a decent deal or not - it's the Desmosedici that sends them scattering for cover, I don't think it's the cost of the bike, it's the MENTAL IMBALANCE of the policy holder for spending £37k on a bike that scares them.... :D :D The D16RR, 1098R, Hyper 1100S, full no claims, a wee previous ban, protected NCB, excess £250 (£500 on D16RR) and all that for £1080:eek: .... it doesn't seem that bad ???? I also have another issue, having discovered I live in Lanarkshires PRIME area for cars being nicked... that ain't gonna help

Well, I had a simular problem with the Imola, being a special we had to provide the insurance company, in this case Carol Nash with specs values for the kit etc. Personally, I had to send them invoices for bits etc. and have an agreed value of £10.5k. I can live with that even though it cost a fair bit more than that to build!
With the Sedici, I would have thought that there would be some kind of special insurance for such a special specimin! :)

bargin ...was quoted £1200 just for the hyper ...needless to say i just laughed

they're all makin' a mint on us you know. Just renewed my insurance on the truck this evening. I got the renewal through of £256.3403300 or summat, I rang them up and claimed I'd got a cheaper quote - I named my price and got it £30 cheaper just by threatening to go elsewhere! It's the same with cars & bikes alike. I've done it for years!!! :)

If the bike is still there you delete what is on the hard drive, you are not going to sit through 24 hours of cats in the garden are you:rolleyes:

Only trouble is the mess they make trying

Seems to be that is not a bad deal at all... thanks guys for your feedback. This forum is GREAT for things like this. I suppose my "later years" count for something, although the cops will tell you, the BAMBI's are the one's with most incidents. (Born Again Middle Age Bikers)... That said, I've been riding almost constantly for the last 15 years

Back to insurance, it pays to shop around and HAGGLE. It's just so MIND NUMBING going through all the questions every time. Bennets asked me some belters on the D16RR.... will you carry passengers ??? will you have a sidecar fitted ??? Will you tow a bike trailer ?? Not their fault really, just amusing for a D16RR.

...Jesus, can you imagine what a missle that would be!!!! :p

Aye, me on the D16RR, wifey on the back having the @rase roasted and my German Shepherd (he's called Dougal) in the sidecar... what a RUN... all our kit in the trailer too... c'mon Ducati, there is a market for this :D :D

a limited market I agree :lol2: :lol2:
