sunday morning 8.30ish daqvie ravie phones me to make sure im up,straight away he gets me into trouble by asking for the master of the house.that didnt go down well with the wife, result 1 kicking for me.
made my way to the meeting point of the burger van at straiton where davie has assured us you can get great bacon rolls, the bloody thing is not open nice one davie.i meet other members tam, ranald, paul, nic and scott with the panzer and jenna introduce myself to those who dont know me and miracle of miracles no one has tried to attack me,so were off to a good start.after hearing how poor nicky was cold i gave her the lining out my jacket (gentleman me) notice davies well kempt eyebrows,we stand in the rain getting wetter till we all realise were not waiting on anybody else, and then we head off.
roads were a bit wet so we kept to a reasonable pace but after a while i noticed tam and ranald were missing so i went back to look and found tam at the side of the road with ranald looking remarkbly well considering his accident.
we kept tam company while we waited on the police and ambulance while tam shivered with a mixture of cold and shock.the ambulance eventually arrived and put a neck brace on tam and got him on a wee stretcher/chair thing and loaded him up.thats the point where me and ranald realised that we didnt know tams last name and had to ask the police for it so we knew who to ask about later.(im sure tam will tell you all himself that i spoke a load of drivel to him while he waited and that if he ever comes out with us again he wants me kept away from him ).
me and ranald then headed on to glentrees to catch up with everyone.where the sun was out,it was nice and warm and davy and nic were discussing the best way to look after eyebrows.after a quick cup of tea for me and ranald we needed it, and bringing everyone up to date about tam (we thought he wasnt too bad at the time) we then slagged davie a wee bit then headed of to hawick.
the route we took to hawick was beautiful tho the longest way ive went for a short cut,and thankfully i sorted out my tyre pressures at peebles cause i dont think they were helping my handling much, and i needed to be able to ride the thing because what little skill i had seemed to desert me on sunday.
on one corner a stone from ranalds back tyre whacked the centre of my visor making me drop it down a gear instead of braking (i dont know) another i was watching nic taking a bend and forgot to set myself up for the same bend and for some reason i kept on trying to scrub of speed with the wee brake on the back rather than the two big ones on the front.
hawick was good seeing all the bikes in one place and meeting various people.nimue/jan introduced herself as a purveyor of smut, which is a fine hobby for a woman,i saw bob and lilly with her hands inside playing with his internals and many other folk who i was too shy to talk to.didnt realise that was pibbows bike parked on the road what an absolute cracker (i hope you enjoyed the ride out mate ) and luckily for us lot from edinburgh we had a secret weapon in frankie as he was from hawick and told us where the good pub food was.and good it was, i was starving and needed that fish and chips and i think everyone enjoyed it, tho i was a bit jealous when i saw what frankie got for his scampy.now im not saying that hawick folk look after there own better than us ,but instead of a fork they gave him a shovel to eat it with. i reckon tho Frankie must be the hawick version of the queen, `cause folk kept on coming up to him and shaking his hand in the street and everybody seemed to feed him or let him into museums for free.
the rest of the journey was a nice easily forgotten trip in the rain home up the a7 where me, paul and davie seemed to be continually held up by busses and cars and such like.

the only really worrying thing was when we were driving near sheep, or for that matter stopped anywhere near them.Did anyone else notice they all seemed to be saying "daaaave" "daaaaave" is davy the sheep king or is there something more sinister going on.
anyway enough ramblings well done if you read this crap this far through;)

Gordj,

What a great write up. You have a spectacular approach to spelling and grammar! :) I really enjoyed reading your ramblings and wish that I had gone on the run although I probably would have been a drooned rat by the time I reached Straiton. I don't mind getting caught in the rain but when it was coming down the way it was yesterday morning I really didn't fancy setting off into 100+ odd miles of aqueous uncertainty. I'm just making excuses I should have got wet like everyone else.:(

Great write up Gordon!

I noticed that about the sheep, goats, horses, cattle and stray dogs as well.

Derek,

It was dry when I left home, then started raining at Kirkcaldy, pouring by kirkcaldy west and torrential from there to the bridge.

It didn't stop until we made our way to Penicuik I think.

It was dry for the remainder of my day out though, but I did head up the road before Gordon.

Maybe next time mate!

As a side note, I cannot with clear conscience recommend a certain navigators skills yesterday (who shall remain nameless) - apparently you get to Glentress via Dalkieth nowadays, as witnesses statements should confirm.

I would now hope that I am completely exonerated from the previous slight on my own character, made by this same person, shortly after the run to St. Mary's Loch in regard to my own navigating abilities.

my spectacular use of spelling and grammar is down to setting my standards low then failing to acheive them.lol.why set high standards when i can fail to acheive much lower ones.I`m glad that my ramblings bring you some amusement, its a shame you didnt make it yesterday to hear them yourself, but im sure youll have the opportunity at some later date.

id forgotten about that scott, but you were right.someone standing looking in the wrong direction was insisting we travel through dalkeith to go to peebles, but be fair to him he did say he knew where he meant.
im not naming names, but ask the sheep?

Great report Gordon Thank's for the complement on my bike. It would have been in better nick if it was not for the dam mice attack!!!!!
And yes I had a good ride, sorry it was rough on some of the troops.

Peter

Very entertaining write-up, for sure. I think you should print off a copy and take it to Tam in hospital - better make sure it he doesn't hurt when he laughs first though.

Crackin write up Gord, a fine plate o scampi it was too. If it wisnae for davie wi his hawick accent that soonded like he was frae cardiff, use wud all of got in for nowt. All in all a fantastic day spent in good company.;)

Heh heh...just sat down with my morning coffee and read your wee report...great write up

"notice davies well kempt eyebrows" :D

Brill Gord! Thanks for the mention, always good to keep my reputation at the top of the news, cheers!!

As for my Sunday, it started very excitingly in Pontins at Blackpool. Could the day get much better, one asks?
Oh yeah! Ian (Dseered) kindly waved at me from a services near Kendal as I whizzed past him and then after he found me again he led me along the fantastic A6 to Linzi and Gizmos place near Penrith. Luverly coffee, must say. Then up to Hawick, more great roads.
But where were the folks from Breakfast in Glentress? We'd all had dinner before there was any sight of them.
Yes museum, yes chat and put faces to names, then home via Kielder where it started to rain. Left the group at Hexham to go left while they turned right - don't know if they decided to go Hartside or A69, but my route was A69 and A1 no messing!

Fab day, anything I write could not possibly match what Gord put!!
