Cut n pasted from an artical in the Hawick News:

"The Alan Duffus Tribute Motorbike Run is setting off on Sunday, September 9, from the west and east of Scotland, and will pick up hundreds of bikers who will bring Hawick High Street to a standstill at approximately 1.15pm.

On the west side at the Erskine Bridge the route is starting at 10am, with pick-ups at the Bothwell and Abington Services. From the east the run will start at 8.15am at the Tay Bridge, before heading for Alan Duffus motorcycles in Kirkcaldy and the Forth Road Bridge to join the rest of the run.

The bikes will then head for Selkirk, on the way to Hawick, before riding to Denholm to mark the official end of the run at 1.30pm."

Anyone up for it??

Anyone done it before???

Ooooh, another idea for a sunny weekend! Might well be there (from the south side of course)

Hows about I catch you at Rothbury at 11.15/11.30 - have a brew & a natter then head for Hawick at 12.00

If I can wake up enough to get sorted in time I may be in. We are meant to be going to Hartside then over to Kielder,Otterburn and on to Rothbury but I will se if they can have a change of route, Rothbury 12ish , will try !

Just got home, will post pics later.

Sorry we missed you Lynn, thought you might have been wandering around the field of bikes that turned up. There were people waving along the route, it was great! I'll be there for next year if they do it again.

Nice run, dancingdog! Good to meet up with IanG and his Repsol Honda friend.

And Patch! Bit of a coincidence that one, good to meet you mate!

Quick report.

Well, joined run on the Edinburgh bypass, trundled down to Abington via Biggar. The POLICE decided to wave everyone down the road with funny little gun type things???  BARSTEWARDS!

Abington was a scene, no space anywhere. Every available space and then some was taken with bikes. Bumped into Patch, Geoff and Lynn. From there down the A740 to Moffat, and then over to Selkiirk on the St Mary's Loch road.

Nasty accident, involving a Volvo and a none DUN member, plenty of help at the scene so we kept going. Thoughts are with you...

Stopped at the cafe, although to busy for a coffee and cake. :( :(

Had to head north at this point due to prior arrangements. Will try to post a few pics later on. But off now to get pished and fed!!!!  :D

PS. Put it in the calender for next year.

we only joined the run at Hawick but it was 5 mile of gobsmackedfullness.
Every layby & farmers gate had cars parked & kids all waving. folk were standing in their gardens & at their back doors.
We tagged on behind what I thought were the tailenders & parked on the green at Denholm with I guess 300/400 others :dunno:
Bikes were still rolling in when we left 30/45 mins later - twas an awesome sight.

Thanks to the good folk of Denholm - you must be proud

It's a must for next year

Patch cheers for the link ... meant I could have an extra hour in bed this morning :D

Jan no worries - time was running short but glad you had great day. I made off down the old A74 on my own but when I got to Abington.......... wowwww soooooo many bikes......... and then the eastsiders joined in too   ..

Run was marred by the accident Paul talked about but - thankfully - the guy was concsious and talking as I passed so fingers crossed he is ok. Corner of the Volvo was fairly mangled as was his bike. Thoughts are with you for a speedy recovery.

My pics now in the Rideouts and Meets gallery - only four of them though... haven't yet worked out how to take photos whilst riding

We enjoyed the run out with you Ian & Jan, those sheep all over the place on the run through to Kielder was a bit unnerving !

Yes all those people, kids, grandparents etc etc all waving to the bikers, who said that we were antisocial nuisances, they all seemed to like us.

If it had not been so late we may have stayed longer, maybe next year.
Judging by how long the queue was for the beer tent some of them must still be standing there now waiting for a pint !

Ian you can certainly make that bike of yours move, On the run from Kielder you certainly wound it on a bit.

We stopped after we passed you and waited a few minutes for you but you must have taken the first turn towards Hexham etc ? we took the next one but saw Jan just as she turned right after crossing the bridge in morpeth, do not hink you saw us Jan, you must havecome bacjk the belsay way while we went to Rothbury.

All in all a good day out and Jan, you can ride a bit, well impressed so was my brother.

That was only the first of the accidents that occurred! unfortunately anothr None DUN member ended his life today by going striaght on with the fire engine called out to the scene of the first accident. I mean come on there was no need to overtake fellow bikers on the loch road we were all just bimbling along at a comfortable 60mph that road is notorious for accidents but still ppl like to take a chance. let him rest in peace but let it be a lesson to us all!

Aha! I did see a couple of bikers as I exited the roundabout, must have been you!

Yes, we did go back towards Hexham then I came round the Ponteland way

Hizzy run

After basically witnessing both accidents and in one case a fatality I don't understand the bikers that were ovetaking at high speed along the loch road -in some case some were pulling wheelies - who are they trying to impress ???
I've been riding for some 29years continuous and through every winter and in the last few years I've been sickened by the Sunday nutcases that come out on their toys trying to show off. Not being biased but a number of crazy overtaking and wheeling individuals had Alan Duffus Motorcylcles stamped across the bottom of their plate. Ain't they heroe's ???

Geoff

yeah I agree .... the run on Sunday was neither the time nor the place for some of those guys to show off their crazy overtakes and wheelies..... where was their common sense? It was a gentle run to show respect for a great guy and now sadly it will also mark the death of another biker ..... sad stuff.

Made the news
It gives motorcyclists a bad name when a few dickheads think it's ok to show off:mad: It's no wonder the police are out with their cameras and speed guns, it is just the excuse they need to heavily police it next year and at the same time collect revenue for loud cans, small plates and black visors:eek:
