Last night we watched an interview on 60 Minutes with Dr. Peter Attia. He is the author of the book Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity. It was a very eye opening relatable interview. He talks about what is necessary to extend longevity. Simple things, not extraordinary or newfangled. Two things out of several mentioned...more protein and exercise. He talks about specifics and how they will make a difference when you get into your 70's and 80's in able to be healthy and enjoy your life.
Taken from the beginning of the interview, "The way I explain it to my patients is, that last 10-15 of your years, if you don't do anything about it, you will fall to a level of about 50% of your total capacity, cognitively, physically."
This link has the transcript and a link to the shows video.
Dr. Peter Attia says enjoying a longer, healthier life requires serious training: "Life is a sport"

Sally`s boss at the NHS has been signed off for at least 6 weeks to grieve for his recently deceased mother. At least 6 weeks. He took months off when his father died . When he came back to work he apparently burst in to tears and took more time off.
Sally expects the same again.
Just to follow on from my post a few weeks ago, as expected Sally`s boss has now been signed off till January at the earliest so at least 15 weeks compassionate leave by then.

#nottherealworld

How is that kind of shit accepted in the public sector?

It wouldn't wash in the real world...even less if you run your own business.
Not a problem when you are spending someone else`s money.
He has told Sally that presuming he inherits what he is expecting he`ll be off as soon as he gets the inheritance . I suspect he`s hoping to be on paid compassionate leave till then.

He is a twunt for doing it but WTF are the NHS doing by allowing him so much time off ?

It's a joke...what's he doing all day - sitting at home crying over old photos....better to occupy your mind doing something productive.

Like you say - it's not their money, and no one dares say anything in fear of upsetting the bleeding-hearts.
