Hartside Meet 18th March

Never been. Looking on the map it's straight up the M6 and turn right at Penrith. However coming from Burnley is there a more interesting way like up to Hawes via Ribblehead and onward. I've got one of them GPS thingy's but frankly it was the biggest waste of money and haven't even used it. Part of the fun is getting lost. What time will most people be there ? It looks about 110 miles each way for me.

I will probably head up the East side from here, via Richmond, Barnard Castle, Alston etc. And back down via the West - Penrith, Shap, Kendal, Hawes, Ripon etc.

But there is a group meeting in Kendal at Costa Crappy then riding up from there - B&P, Dseered, Steve999, MartinH, et al., so I may join them (they'll do the Western route) there and go back down t'other way. I'm easy really. Yep and the GPS stuff does cramp your style - feel free to wander is my idea - GPS doesn't recognise the fun roads! :D Gets ready to duck........!

Either way you'll have fun and meet great people. See you there. Do you use Memory Map software? If so I (think) I could send some route ideas across.

Winston, the most interesting route is Gisburn-Paythorne-Settle-Ribblehead-Hawes-Kirkby Stephen-Brough-Middleton in Teesdale-Alston-Hartside. Exactly 100 miles from my door to the cafe. Good fun route though. Sometimes return via Penrith-Shap-Kendal-Sedburgh-Devils-Home.

Am hoping to make it but mothers day could make it awkward.

Winston,

Usually Ducati Leeds will do a ride up to there aswell, if you give them a shout in the week they'll confirm it. I'll probably go from there too as I've only been upto the Hartside only once...
