Galloway,undiscovered bike heaven

Heres a couple of pics from Sundays day out, there were many more photo opportunities but we were too busy rolling along empty roads.
Stopping at Portpatrick and looking at the most blinged up bandit I've seen in a while and a couple of full dress harleys make me realise how classy all of the ducati range are.
Hope you guys all got home safe.

A couple more pics, the others I took are variations on these.

You'll notice the last one of my bike on its own beside the sea,I discovered this was as far as a tank of petrol, filled in Stanraer, would take me,...two miles from my house! Bugger! Very inconveniantly this is in a dead spot for mobile phone signals, but a but of walking up the beach got me a signal eventually. At least the inlaws were close enough to bring a can of unleaded within the hour.

Looks like you guys had a cracking day out Dave!

How far from full to empty on your monnie?

I think it was about 125-130 miles,my fuel light came on about 18 or so miles from home and I thought I could make it,maybe if I was going a bit slower I might have done too;) ,but I was keen to get home by then.

I cant wait for this DP gel seat I've ordered(Is it in yet Harry?),I'm amazed at how Ducati can get a bit of solid mahogany to look like a vinyl covered bike seat.
While I'm at it I need to do something about those bars too.

How big's the tank mate?

And what's wrong with the bars??

I'd have thought a monnie was a comfy thing :dunno:

Couldn't tell you offhand how big the tank is, but I have noticed using a bit more fuel since I opened eveything up,I dont normally ride much over 100 miles without a fuel stop (on any bike, just an aquired habit) so it usually isnt a problem.
I've been used to clip ons for years and unlike lots of folk I found them really comfortable, the straight monnie bars seem to hold my wrist at a slightly 'wrong' angle - I've seen it suggested that turning them upside down helps. I got a set of adjustable 'jota' bars but haven't tried them out yet, failing that I might just go the whole hog and get clip ons, I like that cafe racer look on the aircooled engines.

Aaahhh - I get the picture now mate.

I was surprised when you said the Monster was uncomfortable - I had always believed them to be a couch when compared to any of the superbike range.

I guess you're accustomed to the sportsbike position instead.

Nice pics, DaveG. Indeed it was a terrific run through some rarely visited biking territory which I hadn't been to for years. Yes, I do like to be beside the seaside...rumtetumtetum..

Most enjoyable day, but my wife thought i'd been on an entomoligy trip if you know what I mean.:dizzy:

You can see where I got the name Midgie Masher Flypast from.

I have to admit I have a bit of a mental block when I see a "flies' cemetary" in a cake shop (those pastry slices with currants inside), filled with stuff that looks like it's been scraped off my leathers.

i bought a currant pastry thingy today, and funnily enough having read this i dont think it looks as appetising as it did 5 mins ago:rolleyes: Im sure the dogs will enjoy it tho:)
