had my hols in italy this week and did the factory/museum on tuesday.
what a great day out! our guide was very knowledgable and no question unanswered. Production lines were stopped cos of bike quota for the year being met seemingly.
gave me a great chance to go roootin about the cnc machines and everything else . lol
only another 4 people on the tour so had load of time.
Also found, on our numerous lost directions about bologna, that there is another ducati bologna in bologna on a back road to florence....
went for a visit and was well worth it

So jealous. This is on my, must do, list for next year.:)

Interesting about the other factory. does it produce bike as well?

Mary I think we need to organise an UP NORTH factory visit. I know some have been already but I fancy it.

Strangely enough such a trip was discussed at the last SDC monthly meeting. There is a quite a lot of interest and it is something that we will be discussing with Martin.

Will keep you posted when (not if, lets be positive) there are more details.:D

IIRC Charlie @ DL was organising a trip last year but had to cancel it 'cos he was too busy. So I would hazard a guess it'll be a popular weekend out C/C notwithstanding an all that:rolleyes: I'm up for this.

Think the idea was for us to get some numbers together and have a chat with Martin. Utilise his contacts at the factory, equally Scott is very friendly with Livio at the museum and again I am sure any visit we made we would be looked after.

hi mbg
the shop i found was a retail ducati shop, much like the ducati glasgow, ducati leeds etc we have here.
was a professional outfit and looked like it was supported by ducati.
i thought it was strange having the two shops in bologna but found after getting lost umpteen times that bologna is absolutely HUGE !!!.
so maybe using the two pronged formation of attack works lol.
by the way pibbow i grew up on arran...at machrie farm, and frequented the lagg on numerous occasions ......small world!! LOL

I went summer (?) before last (WDW 2007). Met up with DL lot at hotel in Urbino. We all went to the factory on bikes and went on the tour. Bologna is quite big but in easy reach, just off the (busy) motorway. Beware of the absolute stunning prostitutes (not a bit like ours with scabs and pin pricks - not that I know, I'm just guessing) on the slip road. The factory tour is interesting but you don't get a sniff at the 'Corse' department which is very strictly off limits. I missed the other Ducati outlet/store and was annoyed but my itinary was packed so couldn't go back.

lol winston
ta for the tip on the prossies...
although id much rather ride my bike than a stunning prostitute!!!!
but to be honest wasnt aware of any being around .

IIRC the other Ducati store has the bargains and new 'old stock' for sale at discounts/sale prices. They had a stand at WDW04

We came to the conclusion that said stunning prostitutes were actually blokes

As Lynn says, I'm certainly up for this again, brill tour. Don't leave me out of the loop just because I'm south of the border!

Hi Mark

How old are you mate and how long ago did you live here?

I called into the factory at Borgo Panigale a couple of years ago.
Just turned up on spec after helping the Petronas team out at the WSB Imola meeting.
The girl who showed our group round was charming and really attractive.
I'll never forget the way she stroked the tank on a Supermono and told us it was her dream bike.
The Macdonalds just up the road is also worth a visit. Full of Ducati memorabilia and a coupe of race bikes in glass cases.
