Everything KTM thread

Automatic gearbox and a tidal wave of electronics, no thanks. A base model with just abs and mtc, yes.

Constant issue with my sdr1290 was mtc fail then limp mode
Weird that. Never had an MTC fault or any limp mode experiences in the 4 years I had my Gen 3.
With my 1290 adv R I've only had system faults when my rear brake light switch went tits up and around 400miles from new.
My 890 adv R is offroaded like an enduro bike and so far is also trouble free. (Roll on camshaft inspections on that one though 😂).

On my KTM 1190 "MTC Failure" is the first warning that comes up when the battery's knackered.

Turned out to be a slow exhaust valve and after 5 faults on the exhaust valve it puts the bike into limp mode it was the same shit with the meta alarm ktm fit ,it constantly drains the battery and the big sdr doesn't like a less than full battery so refuses to fire up and if it does the low battery causes faults.. alarm fucked in the bin and an exhaust delete kit fitted never had a single other issue.. both of these are so common on ktms it's not funny but they will deny their are any issues... I was told how to fix my bike by an ex ktm dealership because they were sick of getting it in the neck and the ktm mothership couldn't give a fuck so they dropped the brand ... Im definitely not in any hurry to buy anything orange despite loving my sdr .. the after sales service was absolutely crap here..im glad your experience has been more pleasant 👌
