Issa brothers switch off EV charging points at Asda in blow for shoppers​


New figures from the RAC reveal that Asda has slashed the number of electric vehicle chargers at its supermarkets by more than two thirds to just 46 devices over the past year. It had 165 devices at the start of 2023.

The reduction comes after the supermarket ended a partnership with electric vehicle (EV) charging company BP Pulse. Asda now has working EV chargers on just 2pc of its estates, or 22 shops.
 
I hate to think what the power losses are converting diesel into reciprocal motion then into rotary motion then into electricity then chopping it to the right voltage and amperage then storing it in a battery before converting it again to the correct voltage etc. then turning it into rotary motion again.
All that without taking into consideration transporting the diesel to the generator, all the manufacturing and raw material costs etc.
Only the mentally impaired could think that this is a good idea.

This may already be known by most people, but I thought that electric cars were difficult to recycle, due to the batteries. But whilst I was supping my coffee this morning, an article came up in Google news, that I think that it really came from the Daily Express. Apparently, electric car batteries can be recycled and it is the manufacturer's responsibility to do it. So they should not end up in landfill, but can be recycled.

Still not going to get one though, as I will just run my B-Max into the ground. :) Green me!!!!

Normal Berkeley madness this morning - some in shorts and some wrapped up in scarf and coat to stay warm in the artic! THERE ARE WEIRDOS ABOUT!
 
I read an article about Tesla , they built a mega recycling plant in the us.
It costs about 5k US to “recycle “ a battery
The article stated that individual cells were tested and reused in power walls
Strangely no mention of the cells that were totally buggered , maybe recycling has lots of different meanings
 
One of the fire brigades darn sarf are updating their procedures for EV fires. Apart from letting them burn themselves out apparently they have to be quarantined for several weeks for fear of re igniting.
