Not that one, it’s made in India and not a proper bmw, although it it is tapping into the growing market for smaller, lighter adventure style bikes it’s not for me. Thanks all the same 👍

Did you see the report on engine build residue in the engine oil across all major manufacturers - Royal Enfield came out top and miles ahead of BMW’s German factories 🤔

In November 2013, production of the BMW F 800 R for the Thai market started at the Rayong assembly plant. Today, seven different models for Asian markets are manufactured at the site. These include the BMW R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure, as well as the super sports bike, the BMW S 1000 RR. Besides BMW motorcycles, the Rayong plant also produces passenger cars of the BMW 3 Series, 5 Series and 7 Series as well as BMW X1 and X3 models.

As early as 2009, BMW Motorrad commissioned Dafra Motos in Manaus with assembling BMW motorcycles for the local market. In 2016, BMW Motorrad took over the plant and has since been building several of its motorcycles there based on CKD kits shipped from the Berlin plant. At two million inhabitants, Manaus is the capital of the state of Amazonas and has been in a free trade zone (Zona Franca) since 1957. Nine different models for the Brazilian market are now being manufactured at a plant with a floor space of around 8,000 square meters. These include the BMW R 1250 GS, R 1250 GS Adventure, our S 1000 RR super sports bike, and the G 310 R in the 500 cc segment. After production, the motorcycles are taken to the distribution center in Sao Paulo and from there are delivered to customers.

Since September 2007, the Chinese manufacturer Loncin has been producing various engine components, motorcycle parts and complete engines for BMW Motorrad. One of China's largest motorcycle and scooter manufacturers, the company currently employs over 5,000 people. Loncin also has its own research and development center. At present, Loncin makes engines for the BMW F 750 GS and F 850 GS. In addition, the midsize scooters BMW C 400 X and C 400 GT roll off the production lines here.

I wonder why the cost savings haven't been passed on to the consumer :ROFLMAO:
 
Those factories are producing bikes for the local markets, afaik the big ones sold in Europe are still made in Germany. Also, whilst I can see the benefits of these lighter, smaller CC, adventure bikes and understand why they’re taking off, I’m not sure they’d be half as good at long distance two up touring, ok with just the rider perhaps🤔.

Not completely true the old 800 gs was a super bike too! the twin cylinder was built by rotax now its a Chinese 850 same with alot of the 1250 components in my opinion were shitty looking compared to the 1200 the accountants were definitely making the decisions 🤷‍♂️
