Ducati Number 26 ?

I have one of the Ducati Performane 'retro' casual leather jacket, it has a number 26 on it anyone know the significance and who rode with that number ?

I have done a brief search but not really looked very hard !

Sorry Steve, yes I did, interesting link and you could well be right, I am still trying to think of a number to race under and I thought 26 would be a good one !

It's as good as any and you have the story behind the number (Rossi is his dads number Hayden is....erm?) the jacket can't be a womens because there is no darts on the front or their tits would get squashed! Do you know if anyone else has it or would you be allowed to pick your own number?
