ah excellent so it's fixed then :lol2:

ah...........well.............. you see it's like this!!!..........

Every time we fix the fookin thing, it keeps blowing a seal (no dirty jokes please:p ) or an O ring or some fookin thing!!!

Poor thing has made over 20,000 coffees in the last 4.5 years! (it's got a counter in it that tells us so)
I really don't know if it's meant for that type of front line action!!!

Sorry Freak, this has just gone a wee bit :OT:

I'll get it back ON topic.......Now are you trying to tell me that with all your experience with expensive, complicated and mind boggling machinery like a.......Ducati you have given up on a simple coffee maker? As it has cost you 12p a day to make coffee I think it has given up the ghost and time to splash out on a new one! How about one of those nice Siemens coffee maker it might last a bit longer!

A FREE mug with every bike purchase????? ;) ;) ;)

Yes why not Martin, A free mug with 'This mug was stolen from Ducati Glasgow' on it to every buyer of a Ducati " Good idea that Steve"

Ducati's marketing strategy? They're a race team aren't they, funded by bike and merchendise sales. Unlike Hodna,Kwakacrappy, Yamahahahaha and Zoozooki who are lawnmower manufacturers I believe.

No worries at all mate, absolutely no apology required, I knew what you meant and it's a really vaild point!:)

Customers might (and most probably will) think exactly that - that we (dealers) have been taking the p*ss up until now.

I'm sure from now on i'll be having lots of conversations around the topics of this thread.
The fantastic thing about this site is that it gets me thinking about these potential issues before they arise on the showroom floor. Folk on here have generally got their finger on the pulse with respects to the latest goings on around Ducati and it's good to get a lot of differing viewpoints.

It's great to have an intelligent debate with people who are good customers, supporters of the brand and also able to articulate their concerns in a way that we can get to the real issues without any of the useless bickering we have seen on other sites, it is far more constructive.

Honestly, it means i'll be able to offer a better service to our customers knowing the concerns and worries they are facing from their point of view.
As a dealer it can be quite easy to get blinkered into following the same course of action day in - day out.
With these kinds of debates it helps me adjust to and learn new approaches, it really is invaluable.

Any and all feedback is great and much appreciated.

Mart:D
Martin,
Perhaps to expand the theme slightly (given that this is as an in depth serious discussion as I found so far on the forum! - not laughing as much but so what!!) would it not make more sense for the factory to rationalise the lineup and actually give customers clearer choices? I had a quick glance at glass's guide and 2 years ago you could buy a 800SS, a 900SS and a 1000SS! Now I know the 900 was probably being phased out etc or whatever but do you really need to offer Joe Public 3 almost identical bikes? In reality it was a question of "How much do you want to spend on your SS?" Same situation with the monster. Do you need a 800, an 800 S2r, 1000 S2r, S4, S4R, S4rs etc all available and overlapping in short time scales?
Yes you HAVE to have the bike to get the buyers in at the bottom and move them up over time but is this not overkill? Strikes me it would make more sense to give clear choices and not muddy the waters? Apart from obvious cost savings to the factory. Last thought for the moment is, in addition to this, why not bring out a single? (NO! not singing!! ) Surely the development costs would be fairly small? Take a 1000cc motor, lopoff a cylinder (Porsche did it with the 928 to produce the 944, and Ducati did it 10+ years ago with the Supermono), put it into an existing frame, get the weight right down, some "proper" styling and offer it perhaps naked and with a fairing, price it right and they would sell by the bucketload!! Ducati was founded on the singles so you have the history to play on, it would handle a dream and appeal to people who are not interested in a sportsbike but at the same time not conflict with the monster market. I could envisage a single make race series at affordable money. If it happens, put me at the top of the waiting list! Anyone else fancy a single? ;)
