Next weekend, the 7th May we are having a rideout to Ballinluig.

This is a really picturesque run with some fast open stretches and twisty bits thrown in for good measure! The scenery on this run run is some of the best in the region :thumbs:

The route we have chosen is from the store through Callander, Strathyre, Killin, Kenmore, Aberfeldy and finally to Ballinluig. (maps will be supplied!;) )

On the way back, we will be passing through Perth, Creiff, Lochearnhead and then rejoining the road back through Callander.

For all of those wishing to attend, we will be meeting at the store at 10am.

Who's up for it??

Well, will we cancel the Loch Tay route and go for this then folks?

Obviously Martin doesnt read the board that often :D

I'd be well up for this one Martin as it's my neck of the woods but as it's the wifes birthday i want to keep ma balls:eek:
All birthdays passed after that so i'll def be on the next one.

yeah davie pretty similar, i think they just pinched our run!

didnt get in to the shop at the weekend to check on the run - harry you dobber you were meant to phone when my dad's watch was in! :D

so is this the new plan then?

Martin any chance of me leaving the bike there on sunday so you guys can have a wee look at the tank pad??

cheers for agreeing to look at the bike, however, i've just realised that we're heading to the NW on the thursday after (head's a bit muddled at the moment with all this studying!!) If its gonna be a bit tight to have a look at it before the wednesday then its no bother, i'll just bring it back up after ireland if that suits?

Just a note,for the past three years the police have stopped EVERY bike at the layby just the other side of Girvan and checked them for the usual noisy cans etc.The last time we were travelling from Cairnryan, I went was on the ss750 which is road legal rather than the 916 with its termi's on,so me amd my mate on his fireblade were OK,but talking to a couple of guys on the ferry,all of them had been booked for minor crap like numberplates and cans and also issued with rectification notices.
The police themselves dont do the checks,its the DOT guys and they're well aware of the usual tricks,so,be warned.
This is difficult to avoid as any detours are miles out of the way on yucky little backroads,so (unless your going from Troon) I'd make the bike road legal if possible.


Let me just repeat...EVERY single bike!!

think we must have been lucky then the past few years sailing from stranraer- never been stopped yet ( touch wood). Will take your advice on board but dont know if my dad will have time to change both his and my cans over ( if not i'll blame him and he can pay my fine hahaha). Normally we're running late and dont have time to stop at girvan so here's hoping we can avoid them this year!!

Yep Dave, never been stopped goin for the 10 am ferry on the Thursday, certainly not in the last 7 years. Thing to remember is that the A77 from girvan to stramraer has average speed cameras all the way now ( 28 miles of them). There was talk of some of them being upgraded to take oncoming and leaving shots to be able to get bikes but I dont know if they have been converted yet. Hope not
 
I'm from the other end of the country but could meet up with you folks for part of the run, say from Killin to Ballinluig and some of the way back to Perth. Any idea what sort of time you would expect to be at Killin?

i know! Where's all the folk that had previously arranged to come on the loch tay run?? I
've heard a vague rumour of very wet weather for sunday:eek: - is that right - my dad woke me at 7 this morning to tell me so i could have made it up. Wont get back on the computer before sunday i'm afraid so davie will you call me if there's any change to the plan? cheers!

I'd hope to meet up with the run somewhere around Killin or Lochearnhead but I'll wait to see what the weather is like on Sunday morning.
 
Rain - thunder

Hi,
Got caught out last night on my bike in the torrential rain and amazing thunder/bolt lightening. Plenty of floods and saw a guy at the traffic lights get hit by lightening. He seemed okay but his car was a bit dead!! Checked if he was okay, which he was, and he was going to phone the AA. After it, I thought, that was close - could have been me? Then along the road a car was left abandoned in deep water right over the bonnet. Had to do U turn and take a long detour home just as it rained heavier. Got home and found the garage partly flooded - what a night? Who says Ducati's don't like rain she ran without a hiccup - can't say the same about my so called waterproof clothing.
Anyway may come on the rideout.
