Looks a bit big for a PP3 battery.

Did you have to get a sub-contractor in for this one? :flash::D

As an educated type of guy I know that you this but as Ducati started off making electrical components how old is this part of the clock? Is the clock Italian originally?

I'm guessing that it must be about 60 years old?

Ducati Elettronica split off from Ducati Meccanica in 1953 and still exists as Ducati Energia, SpA, still making capacitors and other electronics including ignition systems. So that capacitor on the clock may be more recent than you think. :)

The clock is out Alloa Sheriff Court. I never looked at the makers plaque on it but Im guessing its about 140 years old. The capacitor is to reverse the rotation on the motor which operates the striking mechanism. It was weight driven before but we have converted it to electric so no one has to go and wind it up every week now.

I ordered the capacitor of RS after I chucked the box out that had the original capacitor in it. The motor supplier quoted me £20  so got this on of RS for £2.98 inc delivery. You see, not all OE Ducati stuff is overpriced tat!! ;) :D
