Ducati and Toshiba launch special edition range

Special Ducati themed editions of the Toshiba ultra portable Satellite U500 laptop powered by the Intel ® processor technology and Camileo S10 camcorder,

Berlin, Germany, 4th September 2009 – Ducati and Toshiba Computer Systems, a division of Toshiba Europe GmbH, today unveiled two new Ducati branded products.
The Satellite U500 Ducati edition is a 13.3’’ (33,78 cm) ultra-portable fully featured laptop and the Camileo S10 Ducati edition is an ultra-slim camcorder offering HD quality. Designed to be both stylish and sporty, these new special editions feature Ducati’s iconic branding to offer motoring enthusiasts a personal touch to their laptop and camcorders. Both devices will be available during the fourth quarter 2009 in Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and UK.

Thrilling partnership of three major brands

Toshiba Computer Systems Division and Intel are both Official Technical Partners of the Ducati MotoGP Team. Toshiba supplies Ducati Corse, with Tecra R10 and Tecra S10 laptops, equipped with leading-edge Intel® Centrino® 2 with vPro™ technology to monitor the motorbikes’ electronics before and after races. “We really value the strong reliability, durability and performance of Toshiba products and Intel technology,” explains Filippo Preziosi, General Manager at Ducati Corse. Stylish and sporty design


The stylish yet sporty design of the Satellite U500 Ducati edition laptop comes with a white cover and a red signature, inspired by the beauty of Ducati motorbikes, offering a truly tactile experience with its textured finish. The Ducati badge sets an eye-catching contrast against the white background. The special edition white Camileo S10 camcorder’s stylish and dynamic design features Ducati branding in silver letters.

Ultra-portability and high performance – the Satellite U500 Ducati edition laptop


The Satellite U500 Ducati edition laptop offers a powerful blend of high class technology, ultra portability and design, without compromising on any features. Its 13.3" (33,78 cm) Toshiba TruBrite® display has an aspect ratio of 16:10, and a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. The fully-featured Satellite U500 Ducati edition is powered by an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo CPU and provides up to 4GB DDR memory. The hard disk drive offers a capacity of 400 GB.
Based on the enhanced Intel® Core™ microarchitecture and the 45nm process technology, the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor delivers innovative features for power-saving through energy-efficiency without sacrifice on performance, resulting in extended battery life and responsive multitasking. Every aspect of the Satellite U500 Ducati edition has been crafted with portability in mind. A weight of only 2.15kg, basic measurements of 317 mm x 230.6 mm and a height of 29.5 mm ensure ultra-mobility. The extended battery life of up to 215 minutes lets consumers enjoy the freedom to use the laptop while on-the-go. To protect data in case of a drop or shocks, the Satellite U500 Ducati edition has a 3D impact sensor integrated into the hard disk drive.

To connect with other devices, the laptop provides various interfaces: Bluetooth® 2.1 with EDR, a 5-in-1 Bridge Media slot, HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface), two USB 2.0 ports and an additional eSATA/USB combo port which supports Sleep-and-Charge to charge devices via USB even while the laptop is switched off. A slot loading DVD Super Multi (Dual Layer) drive is also included. The Satellite U500 features a HD web camera and supports Toshiba's Face Recognition software to speed up logging-in to password protected applications. For online access the Satellite U500 has wireless LAN (802.11 a/b/g) onboard.

Travelling light – the ultra-slim Camileo S10 Ducati edition camcorder


Measuring 18 mm (d), 57 mm (w) and 100 mm (h), and weighing just 120g the ultra-slim Camileo S10 camcorder is an ideal companion on a motorbike ride as it fits into any pocket or leather jacket. The Camileo S10 is extremely easy to use and helps turn important moments into lasting memories, either as high definition 1080p video or as top quality photographs with up to 5 megapixels. The SD card that is bundled with the camcorder has a capacity of 4GB and can store up to 1 hour of video clips in HD quality (1080p).

Thanks to its 1080p resolution, videos recorded on the Camileo S10 Ducati edition not only show up in brilliant high definition on the rotatable 2.5” TFT Display but also on any HD TV via the integrated High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) port, which allows users to replay clips in the highest quality without losing a single detail. Furthermore Toshiba facilitates easy sharing of video clips with others on YouTube by enabling uploading to a YouTube account directly from the photo editing software with just a click.

is this the first of April ??? Merchandising is not unusual, Breitling and Bentley for example... two exclusive brands is always going to compliment. TOSHIBA, what next BUCKFAST ???

Ducati needs to have a wee talk with itself. They are of course assuming brand bitches like me will buy it - this is a bridge too far.

They'll have to fit the wrong ECU as standard obviously.
