Agree, one of the advantages of racing is the constant improvement of the motor and chassis. We would not have 200+ hp bikes, ABS, traction control and the crazy sticky race rubber we all enjoy if the manufactures were not risking it all to come in first place on the race track. Society might invent better tires or electronic controls but they would not be developed or refined at the pace they are without those shiney silver trophies at the finish line.What is the advantage of penalizing the fastest(not one single mfg with some certain advantage but s totally different bikes that regularly challenge each other) it has only one possible reason- money. They have to keep you on the edge of your seat to keep you hemoraging cash into their events. I love close racing and it gets my heart pumping just like everyone else but the many years Rea and Kawasaki dominated I dont remember such restrictions(I may be wrong on this) for them but since the V4R started winning the made them take weight penalties and lower max revs. Again, I do love close racing but not at the cost of forcing the 2 best bikes on track back to the stone age to make sure the other mfg's can keep up. If you beat me in a fair race I will not insist you race in croks and I get the best Nike pro shoes.

Yes, Ray was constantly restricted on revs - he still won 3 championships after the restrictions were imposed and finally lost in 2021 following a further rev limit restriction even before the season started.
WSBK has operated a rev limit system since 2018 as part of a performance balancing push to keep the grid as competitive as possible, with those limits re-judged every three rounds based on a performance algorithm which comprises numerous criteria.

I follow Moto GP much closer than WSBK. I was unaware of the rev reduction you mentioned but it does not really change the point of my post. Full stadiums are the focus and the sport along with any advances it may inspire is second or third in priority. We all enjoy a sport that runs on money like nearly everything on this planet. I agree with the idea that they should have as few regulations on the specification of the bike as possible but I would guess that would be the arguement for the way the rules are currently. Maybe we should be looking for investors to start an open class that allows a much more variance between participants machines. I would love to watch a race with 350hp turbo Hyabusa's racing against Kawasakis H2R's and nitrous boosted V4R's. It would be insane and every moment we would expect chaos! Anyone want to invest?

, I only rode the Busa out of Bonham's and into a van as it was one of my investments being an historic bike 
- but it will be one of the few that go on the road for 6 months before sell it 
As ever BMW with the most shit bike on the grid have to bow downs and give thaem an advantage!! I am so pissed off with bike racing, it is a fucking joke. I have never done a track day but have so involved in racing and it was something close to me as i did love with a pasion but my love for it has gone due to a load of silly rules and sucking up to certain pilots, Italian termes, money is all it about and not the thrill!! It's all gone!! One of the greatest places i have ever been too is Misano and if i had the money i would move that in a heart beat.

The greatest track is Mugello, it is something else as a motogp track!!
Been there. If you have a weekend pass you can ride ya bike in and park next to ya stand which is pretty cool. The down side ( if you consider it one) is when you go to leave, you get mobbed by drunken Italians insisting you smoke fuck outta ya tire..The greatest track is Mugello, it is something else as a motogp track!!
It is a great track and one hell of an experience!!
