NW region Mega Meet 2006

Updated details

Meet at J20 services on the M6 on Sunday 30th April around 9:30am to leave at 10.00, before we set off for Woods in North Wales (with the route to be given on the day, depending on the turnout we may split into smaller groups) where we will spend an hour or 2, maybe ride one of their demos or browse around the Ducati clothing and parts dep't. With maybe a pub meal in Abergele. There will be a stop at the Ponderosa on the way.

Anyone genuinely thinking of buying an 06 bike and would like a test ride can 'phone Woods sales dept and book a test for Sunday (mention that you're coming with the DSC as they don't normally do tests on Sundays), but the test must be pre-booked.

Andy Wood also recommended "The Bull" pub as a good place for food before we set off back.

We now have a route and will have marked up maps on the day.

So apart from the 8/10 we know of, who's coming?

Have dropped you an email, but sadly we are not going to be able to make it.

Due to my muppetry the bikes are still in the lakes and plans to retrieve them this weekend have had to be put back so unless we come in the car (not a lot of fun) then we are going to be a no show I am afraid :(
 
So peeps are aware there is a curry on Sunday night if anyone wants to come along, scene of the Winter Warmer (Scottch wouldn't let it be anywhere else! :p )

Only 5 people turned up at the meeting place, presumeably becaus ethe weather was absolutely cack.

SteveM turned up in his car having just sold his bike. Embarrasing confession but A N other turned up (sorry forgot your name mate) on bike, but promptly turned round for home having already had enough of the weather.

The Zip bust on my leathers, so having rang everyone whose number i had, waiting till well after the departure time just in case any stragglers turned up, the hardy crew of TonyH, Ian Johnson and moi decided on heading for Derbyshire instead for 2 reasons.

Firstly i could go home and swop leathers, and secondly the weather was still a lot better that way then Wales. We had a good ride out, stopped for fish and chips in Matlock then went back via the Cat & Fiddle where the weather had changed to fog, rain and what felt like sub zero temperatures.

It was then off to Ians very nice Hein Gericke shop in Stoke (nice place and very well stocked) for a mooch around, then home for a thaw out. What time of year is this?

Gotta confess i couldn't be arsed to get my camera out coz it was crap.

For those of you that don't know, previous mega meets have included a BBQ. When we changed pubs the landlord said he would lay on a BBQ for us, but it turned out he had a wedding party on which took preference.

Also the landlord at the Church House, our previous venu who is still very friendly (we only moved because our Regional Organiser had a bit of grief with a local and couldn't use the pub!) would have willingly put a BBQ on, but not this weekend because he had a private party in for his grandsons christening.

Final note we had plans for an evening meal with Jamie Whitham as a guest speaker, but he couldn't do that night. However there is a plan afoot for a repetition of the NW Winter Warmer during the bleak 11 months of winter and hopefully getting the aforementioned Whitham to come along and entertain us. If you've ever heard him talking he is hilarious, worth listening to.
 
A curry, beer and Jamie Whitham would be fantastic, I will see if I can get another rider hooked up aswell if there was plenty of notice, Jamie had me hooting with laughter on ITV on Monday !
 
Well there will be another curry over the winter months as the last one was a cracking night out, DB had the pleasure of the Viceroy on Sunday night as did the now "regulars" Scottch and Julie :D

Bugger about the MM though :( you probably scared them off Shaun with your split leathers :p
 
That bottom room could be filled I would have thought, especially if there is a celeb or two !

I won't drive this time either !
