i picked up my desmo from DG today. It has been fitted with a hugger (finally) and the "carlos fandango" titanium exhaust, air filter, ECU, revised carbon fairing, rear tail unit combo from the parts catalogue.
i'm certainly not the first to get this (and probably not the last....mad dash???). i just couldn't resist a quick post to celebrate the great bike builder Ducati that we all love and enjoy. it's like a Ferrari or Porsche thing, function over form....but then you look at it and "the look" is so amazing.
On this modification to the D16RR, where the pipes used to dive down vertical thru the swing arm, there is now an empty space (room for a packed lunch inside easy!). but, stand to the side and the now swooping bodywork cuts a long swathe thru the air upwards from the engine to the tail light. stunning. so much carbon everywhere. hey, and now i have team colours (white stripe) on the main fairing and a red/white tail. where's the 27 sticker???
i popped into the garage a few moments ago for a final gaze before the zzzz's. fantastic. yes, i know that it was late, but i had to start her up. click the key one turn. you are greeted by a new message on the LCD display, a scrolling "D16RR Race EVO".........oh yes! reassuringly expensive and a marketing blinder, it's a reminder that you are packing those extra 20bhps every time you take the baby out of the garage. sexier than leone lewis. up and running it's like a fire breathing dragon, with two snorting nostrils at 90 degrees from the tail and the belly pan.
my wife and i are off to see Deacon Blue on New Year's Eve at Stirling Castle (you can date us from that info). On their debut 1987 album is a great song (there are several) called Dignity.
`he let me know a secret about the money in his kitty, he's gonna buy a dingy gonna call her Dignity. And i'll sail her up the West Coast through villages and towns, i'll be on my holidays, they'll be doin' their rounds, they'll ask me how i got her, i'll say, "i saved my money", they'll say, "isn't she pretty", that ship called DIGNITY`.
sums it up for me.
time for bed!
