It's for the provisional 2025 figures that shows a 3.25% drop in accidents but a 13% rise in deaths. The full report is due at the end of the year. I do wonder if the report will be broken down by cc as I wonder if the rise in foreign riders on 125 scooters are included and how many of those deceased were legal to ride and if the figures offer both road and off road situations.

Lots of good questions @Noobie. I would also like there to be a study on how much driver distraction contributes to rider deaths. Every close call I seem to have on the street has had me looking at a driver who just missed killing or injuring me with a phone in one hand and the excuse " I didnt see you"! The avaerage driver here seems to spend as much time looking at their phone as the road while driving, even the cops have only one hand becaue they are permitted to text and drive. I have nearly given up street for track only because Americans seem to begin to apply the brakes and automatically reach for their phone at the same time, they no longer wait till they stop to pick it up, they grab it while decelerating. This makes being stopped between a car in front and another approaching from the rear a very dangerous place. I have had 2 friends hit from behind, one pretty badly, just this year so far. Maybe we need the drivers to pay more attention rather than new licence teirs or other laws against riders for drivers errors?
