Croft today (24th July)

Wow, how hot, well I'll tell you we sat in a mates car between sessions with the air con on full chat and the car was showing the outside temp as 99 deg F !

So that meant the track temperature was quite high aswell, fast, fast, fast and to be honest the track scared the pants off me at first, it was fairly easy to learn though and off we went !

Lots of fallers, I think the red flag came out in 3 of the 6 sessions I rode, although only one session was abandoned, lots of yellows aswell so hard to get a good rythmn going, tyres are about shot now I am a bit dissapointed as they have only done 3 trackdays, this may be normal I don't know ?

From what I could see only one other Ducati, a chap called Biz who should be joining us at some point on here, he knows the drill, bar first !

All in all a good day out, I am goosed now though, mate took what looked like some good pics, will have to wait and see when he DL's them, until then I will leave you wih a pic of 'The Minger' !

Hey Jealous - again! Great image of your bike mate. Ignore wavie Davie!
I used to get about 3 trackdays out a set of medium Bridgestone or Pirelli slicks (normally about 8 or 9 heat cycles) which I thought was good!
If it was that hot I'm surprised you got the amount you did out of them!

Yep it was fun, I did sit out the last session though as I was shattered, just loaded the bike up and went to watch Mark and Paul do their last one.

It was just too hot to be wearing leathers really, I have unpacked and they are soaked so will just have to let them dry out, I still prefer Oulton but it is a cheap trackday at Croft and fairly close !

I did buy a couple of pics aswell so will scan them and see how they look :eek:
 
cool, is Croft the track up Middlesboro way? think the lads that are trying to get me out go there too. Glad yo had a good un, bike looks ....interesing, not settle on a paint scheme then LOL :p :thumbs:

3 days and some road riding is good for the tyres tbh.

i have done one day at Donny on mine and it's wasted, although Donny is very hard on tyres so even though it was a medium I kinda expected it.

Gonna have to push them through Tuesday at Oulton though as i don't have time to swap before Tuesday!
 
Yep Stevie, Croft is near Darlington, please though, trailer or van, I saw more than one person picking up roadparts from the gravel, also a grown man crying, I ( think ) it WAS an R1 in a former life, luckily his number plate was more robust than the rest of the bike :(

Here are the scanned pics, he only took 2 so I bought 'em both, can't wait for my mates photos to get to me :cool:

lol, you will probably be there before us!!

Remember we have a long journey to get there... took us over 10 minutes on Sunday....... ok so that was on a push bike though :D
 
Looking at the re-sale value approx £4k yes I will probably keep her, not sure of which way forward just yet though :(

Anyway that photo Opp was too good to miss, it was only 10 foot from the van in the paddock at Croft, nightmare for getting covered in Harvest Mites though :eek:

You need to relax more mate, aching is a good sign of trying too hard and not relaxing.... plus getting old :D

Glad you had a good time though

Yep it's about 10 miles from Scotch Corner, head East from there and follow the signs. About 45 mins from Harrogate, prob nearer 90 for you I would reckon. Tell me when you're going and I'll come up and help out if I can, gophering etc.
 
Nice report there Ian, very envious in deed.

I like the colour scheme, no need to paint the tank black, put some corsa red stipes across the lowers but to be honest it looks very trick as it is.

I did really try to relax and I felt better for it tbh and probably went quicker, focused I was aswell !
Horsepower seems to play a much bigger part at Croft over Oulton, although my mates said that I was getting amazing drive out of corners while they were just spinning up ;)

I am feeling it in my triceps mostly, the rest I just put down to actually doing something other than driving or sitting in front of th mac !

I did have a few rather tensed up moments though*

Had been chasing a Mille all session and got him just before we came in, I could see him laughing through his black visor as I went round the outside and realised there was not a hope in hell of me getting round the next corner, he let me through ( onto the grass right in front of him ) then he turned in while I went hoooooooning over the grass trying to slow and not hit the tyre wall, he was still laughing as he pulled back into the paddock, all good fun and taken the right way !
 
Well my mate has come off nights and rang to say he had done the CD of images of Croft last week, have to say he is getting the hang of it !

This sequence is of my going round the outside of my mate Paul on the Gixer Thou, it was harder to get past him at Croft than at Oulton, he is a very quick road rider but only his 2nd trackday and he is learning quick, I won't have a hope in hell at Oulton on Wednesday so will savour these shots !

you like rubbin' it in for those of us who live so far away from the great circuits of the country. ;) You should come up to Knockhill and we can 'ave a laugh going round the outside of bigger bikes - my Imola keeps up with 749s these days when it's equiped with Soft-Meduim Power Races ;)

I'm sure one of those Glasweeeeegen yobs down there could put you up too (I'm 165miles further north) :D
